Lights - a list by Kristine

About this list:
I am remodeling my kitchen and living area. I've torn down the walls to create one large space, and I plan on separating the spaces with suspended lights. Shopping for lights is fun and frustrating. Too many good options with too many variations. I have two weeks to let my contractor and electrician know where to drill the holes! Ooh oh.

This is nifty for $15! You blow on the fake candle made with real wax, and it turns it on! How they do THAT?

Copper Cauldron Firepit Collection

Description
I LOVE fire, probably too much. I love outdoor fires too, and firepits make it a lot more safe with my pyromaniac desires. I have steel and concrete pits and had a small copper one. This one I like because when not in used, I can double-use for water hose storage.

Brilliant... (A little on the bulky side though, which reminds me too much of my hockey gloves.)

Neo Neon

Description
I used to think that neon decor was for bars only, but lately, I've become quite fond of the wonders one can do with neon lights, especially in home decor. These LEE BROOM bistro chair and wall mirrors are great examples of well-integrated neon to product design.
You no longer need night lights with these, now, do you?
Personally, I wouldn't mind six of these chairs...
A fun dinner party they would make!

Fiber Optic Illuminated Tablecloth

Description
Damn it. I've got to stop looking at lighting. Every time I think I've disciplined myself from spending temptation, I run across another great light I want.
This tablecloth is made of fiber optic lights interwoven into a polyester/polymethacrylate fabric, which is waterproof and washable (can you believe?). I wonder how it would look on suspended, like a window shade... Uses an 11' power cord, which can be removed for washing.
I so want this! I'd like my Burning Man tent to be made of this fiber optic fabric. How hot would that be???

Modular Light Screen

Description
Oh, too many great lighting options, too little money. These light panels can be connected, up to five panels at a time. It'll cost you $7,000 though, which is not bad considering the amount of territory this covers. I would love to have a single panel for a space I created during the remodel, but it's 9" thick, which does not work with the fixture I have in mind. I need a 4" thick light wall (which I'm creating myself with fabric panels and led string lights... when I get to it, that is.).
I'm sure I'll find a reason to get this one day.

Great. Another thing to spend the last of my savings on. The great uses I can make of this for my remodel! Pontential ideas range from night light panels to lit glass counter tops. Too bad it's not solar operated. That would make it a must have for me. Without seeing how the inverter electrical unit works, it's hard for me to commit. I'm not a fan of wiring running all over my walls or floors. Unless it's on purpose, of course.
This flat panel light uses LEC technology to create a paper thin lighting device that is flexible and extremely light weight. . Sized as large as 3' x 6', a tad smaller than my front door ($1,650) (ouch). Smallest is 8.5" x 14" for $25. They need to create a connector cable, so one can create a grid without 12 outlets needed. Don't you think?

I've become fond of acrylic furniture and home decor items. If designed well, they can be a minimalist's dream. The clean bent shape requires no extra screws or glue, which creates clean and beautiful lines. These lamps are sweet.

Lumiwall Light Panel

Description
I have two wishes for solar. One, a solar system that actually works well for home accessories and gadgets. Two, a well-designed system that is either discreet or stylish.Of all the people to answer my prayers, Sharp? Who woulda thunk??? Talk about a B brand that just jumped to A on my list.
This glass panel is one of my all-time favorite inventions. Layered between two glass pieces are LED lights that lays dormid in a smokey gray tone during the day, but absorbs enough energy to cast a luminous glow at night. Not quite ready for light a front porch, but it's so beautiful, I can see it used as a night light panels. I can see these being used as fancy design light fixtures in museums. Due out in 2007. I don't even want to know what the yet-to-be-determined price will be.
