Fertile Garden Woodgrain Platter

First to recommend

Description

When creating a copper engraving from an existing picture, it was quite common for 18th centuray engravers to attach the image with tacks or small nails to a pin-board in front of the worktable. It is this moment that has been captured in the décor "Woodgrain with Landscapes and Gold Edge". The "sheets" depicting the landscape are partially torn at the edge, as the sheets from which one copied in the workshop would also be worn from repeated use.

Nymphenburg Treasure Box 21 flowers

First to recommend

Description

Each flower, being completely hand made and hand painted, is unique.

Created by Ess as part of a grand table decoration for the Munich residence of the Bavarian monarch (Nymphenburg was the summer palace), these "fantasy flowers" are from the imagination of the Nymphenburg craftsmen who model each flower by hand.
