Description

A mostly silent and highly surreal film by filmmaker/ animator extraordinnaire Jan Svenkmajer. This movie is a mix of live action and stop motion animation that probably wouldn't captivate the small kiddies. Wonderfully imaginative film! (via Amazon)

Description

This version aired on TV and I remember enjoying it. I think its because it was kind of a musical and had Sammy Davis Jr as the caterpillar. Scott Baio, Red Buttons, Beau & Lloyd Bridges and Shelley Winters also star. (via Amazon)

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland DVD

Description

This film adaptation is a U.K. version from '72. I wasn't immediately familiar with it, but was sure I had seen it at some point in my life. After looking at some stills I realized I had seen it eons ago. Its a musical version and stars Dudley Moore (that was the only actor I could recognize by name) Oh, and Peter Sellers (The Pink Panther). From what I remember, this movie was better than the NBC version that came out in '99 and the '85 version. Come to think of it, I think this was the first Alice movie I ever saw. (via Amazon)

This 1999 U.K. version features, Kate Beckinsale (Underworld) and Ian Holm (Lord of the Rings). I definately haven't seen this one but would love to check it out. In this story, the Alice figure (KB) is an adult and is pulled into the adventure while reading the story to her daughter. (via Amazon)

Alice in Wonderland - 1950

Description

I would love to see this 1950 version. The hand puppets are extremely peculiar and amazing. I'm curious to see how they pulled off a live action fantasy film with minimal effects. (via Amazon)

Description

I loved this version. It begins with an elderly Alice (who the story was based on) on her way to the U.S. to participate in a celebration of Lewis Carol and his books. The movie then segues into flashbacks of her childhood and the fantasy world. This version was a bit darker. The puppets (made by Jim Henson's Workshop) were kind of scary and nightmarish. Miyuki-Chan in Wonderland

Description

I've never heard of this Alice in Wonderland inspired anime. According to some of the reviews, saying its its full of sexual undertones is an understatement. It looks as if this film is a pretty risque interpretation featuring buxom characters, sado-masochism and sexual content unsuitable for minors. (via Amazon)
