Lee Valley Garden Apron - Lee Valley Tools

First to recommend

Description

I definitely need one of these for my Spring "tour of duty" in the garden.

This apron protects clothing and has numerous pockets that are strategically placed to keep tools and accessories close at hand. Made largely of washable 100% cotton canvas, it is lightweight and durable. It has cross-backed shoulder straps designed to prevent neck strain.

At about 24" long by 30" wide, the apron provides good side and front coverage and has a reinforced vent at the bottom for ease of movement when kneeling or walking. (via leevalley.com)

Park Seed: Eucalyptus - A Silver Dollar Plant with silvery leaves for garden or pot culture.

First to recommend

Description

Said to be a treat indoors or out (I'm not sure about that considering its need for sun). The Eucalyptus is a study in texture and color. This plant does best in zones 8-10 (warmer tempertaures).

In a sunny garden this plant grows rapidly, but is not invasive, like mint, and can be trimmed to desired height.

I may try growing this one from seed and keeping it indoors, as I do not live in the desired zone for this perrenial to thrive. The summers here in the Midwest are long and hot, but not as long as in zones 8-10. This would be a lovely plant to have indoors. (via parkseed.com)

Miniature Spade - Lee Valley Tools

First to recommend

Description

It's so hard to find tools for indoor gardening. They are simply too big! Here is something that is perfect. I only wish I had come across it sooner, but at least I did stumble upon it.

This 7" spade is useful both indoors and outdoors. As well as serving a multitude of purposes indoors, it is equally useful when when it comes time to transplant seedlings into beds. It lets you separate seedlings, with root balls intact, for low-shock transplanting.

Made of hardened, ground and polished stainless steel.

A great stocking stuffer for gardeners.

Contoured Kneeling Pad - Lee Valley Tools

First to recommend

Description

I don't know if it was genuflecting on those hard kneelers at Mass when I was a kid that ruined my knees, or if it's a simple defect of age (my Mom laughingly votes for that). However, I need some assistance when am on my knees in the garden for an significant period of time.

This unique pad provides ultimate knee comfort. Contoured to fit both knees, it distributes pressure evenly over the knee and upper shin, eliminating painful pressure points.

Made from non-absorbent closed-cell foam, that will never absorb moisture, it is thick enough to protect knees while gardening, landscaping and even home improvement.

An integrated handle makes it easy to carry and reposition. Well made in Germany. (via leevalley.com)

Park Seed: Tomato Chocolate Cherry

First to recommend

Description

I've been looking for a gourmet or heirloom tomato to try in a container. This original just may be the pick.

The Tomato Chocolate Cherry is ready around 70 days from transplant in garden or container. They boast a flavorful tomato tang, are about 1-inch in size and have a balanced combination of gels, solids, sweets and meats.

They appear in clusters of eight on a compact vine. The plant reaches 3-6 feet in height and about 3 feet in width, sometimes continuing to grow and bear fruit into Autumn.

To make the most of the flavor, prevent splitting, and keep them from thieving birds, you will want to ripen them on the windowsill. (via parkseed.com)
