Bonne Bell Lip Smacker Lip Gloss, Dr Pepper

5 people recommended this item

Description

This has been a favourite of mine since I was a kid. I don't think I'd even had a can of Dr Pepper when I became addicted to the lip balm! It doesn't smell or taste identical to the beverage, but very similar (it's kind of a red licorice scent).

But it's not just for kids or kids at heart! It gives your lips a perfect natural red tinge, which makes you look even more tasty and kissable... (via esh)

Soma puzzle

3 people recommended this item

Description

I loved fooling around with the standard blue plastic Soma cube as a kid. This wood version is a much nicer quality and much more attractive version of the same puzzle. The light and dark colored wood makes for an attractive cube design, but only a few of the many cube solutions produce exactly this pattern giving an extra challenge.

Global Underground 019: Los Angeles, mixed by John Digweed

Description

John Digweed's GU019 is one set that has never left my rotation. Never! In fact, there are moments when I put tracks two and three of disc 1, Apollo Vibe and Love in Traffic, on repeat. The two together are the beginning of a very sexy evening.

Wooden LED Clock

34 people recommended this item

Description

I would like to meet the genius who dreamt up shining an LED clock THROUGH wood. Through it! As if it were transparent! Unreal... and so elegantly matched with the other lovely wood things in your home.

You can turn off the clock so the object becomes merely a lovely wood block... and them flip on the LED display when time is of the essence.

ThisNext has one in its development office... which causes the rest of us much jealousy. (via UncommonGoods)

Asterix and the Great Crossing (Asterix)

2 people recommended this item

Description

I had this recommended to me by a few friends who loved Asterix when they were kids. I found this one mildly entertaining and after I started reading it to my 9 year old, he decided to finish it on his own and said he enjoyed it. I'd stay away from this if you are offended by racial stereotypes as this was originally published a couple decades ago in France and doesn't suffer from the modern American PC influence.

UberOrbs

4 people recommended this item

Description

The UberOrbs are mysterious looking, have a smooth curvy feel, and make queeky noises when they come together. They're good for about 10 minutes of fiddling if you own them yourself, but anybody who doesn't own them will want to play with them all the time.

You're free to borrow mine, just keep them away from magnetic media. Yes, I'm talking to you, notcot. (via elmanco)

Rush Hour Traffic Jam Puzzle

6 people recommended this item

Description

My 9 year old son and I are working our way through the various puzzles presented by this game. In many ways this game reminds us of the TIPOVER Crate game. Both are a series of puzzles in increasing difficulty. Both involve a small board with a set of cards that show you how to set up each puzzle. Both involve geometric tactics and changing the configuration of the pieces on the board to accomplish a goal. And, both are very, very fun. (via David)

Chrome Tangle Toy

6 people recommended this item

Description

Different enough to be fun for a while. Not sure it's going to hold my interest for long, but it is one of those gadgets that draws folks' attention and they like to pick it up. It started out very stiff, but after a bit of work the action got easier.

The Rubik's Twist is bigger and not as pretty, but you'll get more enjoyment out of it. (via gregclay)

SlimSlimmy wallet

14 people recommended this item

Description

I've been on a quest to find a small, thin, but usable wallet. I decided to give the Slimmy a try after seeing the SlimSlimmy recommended on ThisNext. I chose the Slimmy because I only wanted to fold my cash once. The SlimSlimmy requires folding US currency in thirds which makes it thicker.

I am very happy so far with my Slimmy wallet. I can easily fit 3 ATM/credit cards, drivers license, 2 insurance cards, 2 folded checks, Ichima Sushi VIP card, and folded cash (up to 10 or so bills at my comfort level). The wallet obviously can't make any of that thinner, but at least it doesn't add much thickness and the leather has a nice look and feel.

An empty Slimmy is actually a smidge thicker than the fine woven wallet I bought in Sagada (a remote mountain village in the Philippines) so their claim of "slimmest wallet on Earth" is not entirely true; but overall the Slimmy has a much smaller profile and is much easier to procure so I am happy to own and recommend it.

Note: Stay away from the Jimi also sold by Koyono and others. That plastic wallet had great marketing, but was unecessarily thick and fell apart on me after a month. (via bzipkin)
