Me? Microphobic? - a list by Kristine
Options for This Page
About this list:
God has a funny way of teaching me little lessons. I spent my entire life making fun of our germ-phobic culture... Then I got dogs. They carry some ewy stuff - microscopic things that bite. So I spent a year visiting vets and doctors. And a year researching about medicines and health products. I no longer make fun of germs or bugs, or even delusional people who think they have bugs. It's not funny. I hope someone will benefit from my discoveries.

Henry Micro HVR-200M

Description
I was shopping for my 11th vacuum cleaner, and my friend, who recently returned from London, claimed this is by far better than the Dyson or Miele. Huh! Unfortunately, it's difficult to find in the U.S. When it's more readily available, I'll be the first in line. I like good vacuums...

Paint Mildewcide (MC-2)

Description
Once I was paranoid. Now I'm just safe. This little packet is pretty cool. Add it to a gallon of paint, and it adds umph to preventing mildew to your walls. During rainy seasons, it's not bad to know you've protected your dwelling from potential mold and mildew. And it's cheap too.

UV Air Purifier

Description
It may seem a bit much to some... But I believe in this product quite a bit. It uses UV light in your heating/venting system to satinitize your air by destroying musty odors, pet dander, viruses, mold, bacteria, dust mites and other airborne pathogens. There's no need for harsh chemicals. Did you know all government buildings are required to have UV-C light installed in their ventilation systems? That should tell us something, huh?
It's pretty easy for your HVAC specialist to install. My HVAC system happens to sit in my basement next to a sump pump... This will come in handy this winter!

Sweeper with UV-C Sanitizing Technology
First to recommend
Description
It's called a sweeper because it's a light-weight vacuum that picks up larger particles from your floor. It beats having to sweep the stuff under the rug...
The UV-C is the key to this... Did you know chlorine will not kill dust mites? But a few seconds of UV-C exposure does! For $50, you can't go wrong with this! (via grenade fishing)

Mold & Germ Destroying Air Purifier
First to recommend
Description
Works up to 550 sq. ft. and the best looking one I've seen in the market to date. I don't know why, but air purifiers and dehumidifiers are so uuurgly! I crinched each time I had to buy one.
This unit is not just nice looking, but its list of "why buy me" qualities is quite impressive . It uses heat to kill airborne mold, bacteria, viruses, dust mites, and pollens. The surprising part is the heating does not heat the environment (interesting how they do that) AND it uses less energy than a 60 watt light bulb. That's REALLY impressive.
Of course I'm getting one. I never knew how useful air filters can be, until I got one. Now I have four and ready for more!

Shower Kleener Made with Tea Tree Oil
First to recommend
Description
Tea tree oil is an incredible natural product that does all sorts of good things for you and your environment. I am such a fan, I have it everywhere in my house. It's not as "fast" of a problem solver as the chemical stuff (sometimes I'm impatient and will succumb to bad things), but if you are patient, tea tree oil is the perfect solution for germ-repellent and anti-bacterial needs.

This is too funny to be true. And to think Nicole recommended this. She knows I would die upon seeing this recommended! I don't mess around with toys though. For bugs, I use my Dyson. I'm that scary.

avalon organic tea tree mint shampoo

Description
There's nothing fancy about this shampoo. It's just good stuff. High amoutn of tea tree and the mint scent counters the tea tree scent well. Mint calms me down a bit, which is probably a good thing. Foams well and leaves hair feeling clean, not heavy with residue.
