Fruehstuecksbrettchen "Zwergenaufstand"

Description

Come and meet something typically German! A "Fruehstuecksbrettchen" is a small wooden/melamine coated slat, with or without motives, where bread & butter-style breakfast is served on. These were a more common thing on breakfast tables in previous years (the trend is small plates), though the breakfast slate is having its little secret comeback, thanks to modern designs and fresh takes on an otherwise outmoded commodity.

This "Fruehstuecksbrettchen" features a country-ish red-white checked background and a gnome...and yes, a mushroom. Yes, it's 101% kitschy, but you know... it's for those moments in life when you really, really need a kitschy breakfast.

Honestly, I am not sure whether the Nesting Lotus Bowls I recommended off Koo de Kir's website some weeks ago was a piece by Whitney Smith, too. They wouldn't say there (and the piece was stunningly low in price, too). But here's to a genuine artist and another set of 'Nesting Lotus Bowls' in fern green. 100% handmade!
