Gravis Fulton Expedition
First to recommend
Description
Gravis' winter collection features a couple shoes that look right at home in a woodsy cabin in front of a fire. Nothing says winter like plaid wool, right? The rugged rural aesthetic should make suburban streetwear just a little more of a bearable proposition.

New Balance M574

Description
I'm way less averse to obnoxious sneakers than I should be, but at least I can see an ugly pair of shoes for what they are, even as I covet them. I've always appreciated New Balance for its ability to inject some flare into the completely mundane task of jogging, and I like the idea of a car not hitting me because these shoes indicated human movement in the road.

Clae Cousteau in Teak
First to recommend
Description
I've always found Clae, in both its initial and relaunched stages, to be a slightly frustrating hit-or-miss mix of great and bland designs. But the Summer 2008 collection looks pretty good, leveraging the brand's knack for slightly tweaking classic silhouettes against some strangely inviting colorways. This Cousteau in Teak is a nice example.

Low Down Stan Smith

Description
There may be no better canvas for sneaker customization the Stan Smith. The simple silhouette and broad open space lends itself to the art of Lookdown, a Swedish design studio whose black and white illustrations are infused with a touch of humor.

Description
Remember summer 2006, when streetwear couldn't get any louder? Yeah, me neither. But Creative Recreation again somehow manages to put a cool sheen on an otherwise obnoxious colorway.

Navy Leather 3 Hole Slip-On
First to recommend
Description
A fantastic midpoint between an oxford and a sneaker, Common Projects' 3-Hole Slip-On succeeds almost silently. Call it inconspicuous sportswear.

Achilles Low Top Sneaker
First to recommend
Description
Maybe this shoe makes too many easy Rod Laver references, but try wearing that shoe with slacks. Common Projects' knack for luxurious understatement is getting more textured all the time.

Vans Zapato Del Barco
First to recommend
Description
Deck shoes have experienced a resurgence in the past few years, thanks to the efforts of Alife, Creative Recreation, and Modern Amusement's collaborations with Sperry. Vans gets on board with this Zapato Del Barco, which bypasses the leather upper for a frayed-edge canvas. (via Uncrate)

Description
New Balance 420 in weed green. Somebody had fun designing this shoe.

Superga: Men's Formula Uno
2 people recommended this item
Description
This is how traditional court sneakers, which we think of as Chuck Taylor's, get translated by Europeans. Note the refinement, which makes this shoe go better with slacks than most any sneaker you've ever owned.
