Indianapolis 500 Tickets (May 2007)

Updated Dec 21, 2006

Description

I would say that in general, I am not an auto racing type of girl. HOWEVER, if I had to pick my poison, I'd pooh pooh the NASCAR (especially since they have their own brand of hot dogs) and follow the Indy 500.

According to John Davies, vice-president of AMR Research's green technology service, the Indy 500 this coming May will be fueled by 100% ethanol, which "burns cleaner than gasoline and is less polluting, even reducing emissions of carbon monoxide and particulate matter."

Description

For $15,000, you can be a crew member on one leg of the Earthrace in March to break the world record for circumnavigating the globe.

The Earthrace boat looks like a spacecraft. It cuts through the water with its efficient hull design at 45 knots. The best part is that it runs entirely on biodiesel. MMM. French fries :)

Description

Forget about your silly little iPod.

You need the PowerPod, and it's a lot more than just music. IT'S A HOUSE.

PowerPods are small, pre-fabricated houses. They are eco-effective because they are constructed from sustainably sourced materials, are designed to be energy-efficient, and can operate independently from the electrical grid.

Seahorse Power Big Belly

Description

Seahorse Power's Big Belly is a solar-powered trash compactor. With it, you can reduce the number of times your Garbage Guy has to come trundling down the ave in a giant stinky truck to pick up your trash.

HOPEFULLY, you'll be putting recyceable materials into the Big Belly, and sending the little cubes of recyclable "trash" to a center, not a landfill.

2001 Luna Merlot

Updated Dec 21, 2006

Description

I am not a huge fan of Merlot (I am NOT drinking Merlot!) but when I went to visit the Luna tasting room, the people there were so friendly and welcoming, you can't help but taste it in your wine.

As an added bonus, the grapes for Luna Vineyards wines are all grown organically. (via Vinography)

Description

Did you know that if every American replaced their Christmas light strings with LED Christmas lights, "we would save enough energy to power 200,000 homes a year?" That is because LED lights use 90% less energy than regular incandescent bulbs. NINETY PERCENT!

That's a lot of energy savings, expecially if you're going to do up your house like the Griswold's. (via Inhabitat)
