Love Those Derby Dames
Updated Aug 28, 2008
I adore hats. Yet, like many modern women, I rarely wear the ones I own except in the winter or to the beach. Today (May 3, 2008) is a glorious day for hats in America. But where? The Kentucky Derby, no less. A great horse race, to be sure. But an equally great fashion show as well. Perhaps we should take a cue from those Southern ladies and get a little more festive with our millinery. (In memoriam: Eight Belles)

Getting the Royal Treatment
Updated Aug 28, 2008
It's hard to imagine wearing a wool coat or even a sweater during these warm weather days, but if you pick up a July issue of just about any design magazine you will see fur and wool and tweed along with deep hues of purple, emerald, ruby and sapphire. After we have had so much fun with flowers and fringe throughout the spring and summer seasons, we are going to be getting a bit more royal for fall. Just don't let the accompanying sea of gray get you down . . .
