About this list:

The humu is the state fish of Hawaii, one of my favorite places on earth. This list is dedicated to the wanderlust, the one who seeks an escape to exotic locale (or merely the idea of such an escape.)

Qualifications:

At my core, I am an island girl.

Hotel on Rivington - The Penthouse Suite

First to recommend

Description

A tropical escape to Manhattan . . . who knew I only had to navigate the Lincoln Tunnel in order to access a well-situated jacuzzi and accompanying shower ? You do have to reserve the penthouse suite in order to take advantage of these dazzling, open-air amenities, yet a trip to my nearest island would save me considerable time and airfare. Tempting. Description

No matter what I where with these earrings, I would feel as though I had slipped into another, more exotic dimension. And isn't that what jewelry is really all about ?!! (via BlueBee)

Joey: Butterfly Top in Fuchsia

First to recommend

Description

A beautifully busy butterfly design remains captive within a simple shape. Pair it with jeans, under a suit, or with a simple gypsy-style skirt. A great piece to revive your winter wardrobe.

Diane von Furstenberg - Tupai Chiffon Wrap Dress

First to recommend

Description

Perhaps I just don't know enough about the history of DVF, but this is the first time I have ever seen one of her dresses in a floaty fabric like chiffon. Saks recommends it for a stroll through Bryant Park . . . I recommend it for a stroll down a beach or boardwalk. Either way, you'll be noticed. :-D (via Saks Fifth Avenue)

kate spade: mallorca selby

Description

The body of this bag is made using woven cotton macrama, which gives the satchel its lacey and feminine appeal. It's tropical roots are evident in the bamboo-like handle and button closure. Superb for springtime outings, you could also fit a bikini inside.

Sundance Catalog | Vagabond Skirt

First to recommend

Description

Okay, okay, I admit it: I am part hippy. Which partly explains why I love this carefree spirit of this skirt so much. The other reason: it's so easy to wear.

Sundance Jewelry | Mermaid Signet Ring

First to recommend

Description

If I have lived a previous life, I am certain it would have been as a mermaid. Born under the sign of Pisces and magically drawn to the sea, I probably did once swim with the fishes. So, I am considering gifting this ring to myself for my birthday this year.

Buff bandana: the bandana with no knots

First to recommend

Description

Do to its stretchy, one-piece design, this bandana can be used as a ponytail holder, headband, neckerchief, face warmer . . . only limited by your imagination really. And Sahalie continues to add more fun colors and designs to the line-up . . . if you workout, you will appreciate having one or two in your gym bag.
