Edensoy Original, Organic
First to recommend
Description
Edensoy was the first soymilk I ever tasted and it remains my favorite for plain soymilk. (I have tried robably 30 different brands since then.)
Edensoy is organic, does not have loads of added sugar, and is high in anti-oxidant flavanoids and soy protein. Totally delicious and recommended was to go w/cereal, esepecially Kahi Puffs.
If you don't like super-sweet drinks but do like a good creaminess and nutty flavor, definitely get some Edensoy Organic Plain.

7 Whole Grain Kashi Puffs

Description
Kashi Puffs are my mainstay breakfast. I have Kashi Puffs w/organic blueberries, dark amber maple syrup, and plain soymilk. Kashi Puffs have a light, nutty flavor, have a good crunch to them, and don't turn into a soggy mess in your cereal bowl.
I eat kashi puffs as a snack sometimes too. They are light enough they don't make me feel like there is cememt mix in my stomach after I eat it. If you are going to go out for a long work-out or yoga session, a bowl of Kashi Puffs about 20-30 min beforehand can be a great way to get your energy up

Genesis Today Mangosteen 100
First to recommend
Description
I love mangosteen- they are one of the most delicious fruits I have ever had. Unfortunately, mangosteens are not currently grown on mainland USA (though you can get them at farmers' markets in Kauai). Mangosteens are also packed w/lots of anti-oxidants.
So I was delighted when I discovered Mangosteen 100, a juice tonic made from 100% mangosteens, including the skin and rind (which is the part that often has the most nutrients in fruit). Mangosteen 100 tastes a bit bitter because of the skin but it is tasty nonetheless. I drink about 1-2 ounces of it every morning and it helps me get going. Loaded w/anti-oxidants and various other nutrients.

ProBar Original Blend
First to recommend
Description
Probar's are super-tasty, whole-food energy bars that pack a wallop. Larger than many energy bars, Probars are great meal substitutes when on enduro rides or half-way up a long multi-pitch route when you want those extra calories. Unlike many bars, ProBars actually taste like real food and are not highly processed. I like the Original Blend flavor the best which is loaded w/ anti-inflammatory nuts.

A's Do Mar Tonno Trancio Intero Tuna Packed in Olive Oil
First to recommend
Description
A's Do Mar Tonno (tuna) packed in olive oil is simply fantastic. Imported from Portugal via Italy, A's Do Mar's dolphin-safe (I think) tuna comes in large chunks or even fillets and has great firm texture. It has a delicate, non-fishy, slightly nutty taste and the olive oil used is very high quality.
I eat this tuna right out of the jar, usually w/a piece of multigrain toast and CIBO basil pesto sauce. Delicious!
While A's Do Mar definitely not the cheapest, it is super high quality and very tasty. Is great on a salad nicoise too. Tuna is a great protein source but don't it too often or you might have problems w/blood mercury levels. The oilive oil is good for you as it has lots of anti-inflammaotry properties which is great for reducing wear and tear on your body

Kotsubu Natto - 4 pack
First to recommend
Description
Natto is a Japanese dish made out of fermented soybeans. It has a nutty flavor, is sticky and makes long threads like spidersilk, and has a smell you either appreciate for its complexity or you think it smells like an old sneaker.
Kotsubu Natto is one of my favorite brands of pre-made natto. I personally like to eat my natto plain and mixed w/a bit of ponzu sauce or on top of some steamed rice. I love Kotsubu Natto but my wife thinks it is vile.
If you have never tried it and like to sample more unusual foods, I highly recommend natto. I think it is totally delicious. Additionally, it is rumored to have amazing health benefits such as being good for your heart and immune system, as well as being packed w/veggie protein.
Live long and prosper thru natto!!!

Gjetost Cheese
4 people recommended this item
Description
I have walked by this cheese for YEARS! Always curious, never willing to plunk down a few dollars to try it. When I saw that Alyson recommended it, I knew it was time for me to get with the program!
The next time I was in the store I picked up a cube.
Ah, the power of cheese, err, ThisNext!
Gjetost is a curious cheese. Though sugar is not on the list of igredients, its kinda sweet. The cheese melts away like a caramel. There is a good reason why the packaging suggests you cut it with a cheese plane - too much and it becomes overwhelming. The taste is quite mild at first but the goat milk comes out in the end. If you have with apples and pears, I imagine the goat taste would be supressed.
Its good stuff. Its definitely a cheese you need to check out if you love cheeses. (via Alyson)

Goccia Black Truffle Oil
First to recommend
Description
Goccia Black Truffle Oil rocks. I know that true gourmets say white truffles are the superior/more refined truffle but i personally prefer black truffles. And Goccia makes a great black truffle oil. Strong and nuanced, this stuff is great on a sliced heirloom tomato w/crumbled feta, salt & pepper. Also amazing on scrambled eggs or even on fish.
Highly recommended but remember, truffle oil is for dipping, not cooking. Apply it after you have done the cooking. Also, the olive oil is a great anti-inflammatory so it can help you live longer

Crown Prince Brisling Sardines in Olive Oil
First to recommend
Description
Crown Prince Brisling Sardines are my favorite brand. I know sardines are not for everyone, but if you do like canned sardines and have not tried CP's Brislings in olive oil, I suggest you do so. Lightly smokey flavor, brislings are small w/a firm texture but are not fishy tasting. The olive oil ones taste better than the water or soy oil to me.
Brislings are great on toast or Finn Crisps w/pesto sauce. Plus, sardines are super-healthy. As a cold-water fatty fish, they have a lot of omega-3 in them which is a natural anti-inflammatory and can help myriad parts of your body last longer and perform better. Sardines are also lower in heavy metals than most other types of fish and have a pretty high protein content.
These canned sardines are also great to take on climbing trips. Small, compact, tasty. For some reason, sardines taste 1000x better when you are a few hundred feet off the deck.

Finn Crisp Originals
First to recommend
Description
Finn Crisp Originals are hands-down my favorite crackers. Excellent for dipping into CIBO pesto sauces and really good w/cheese too. Also good w/sardines if you like that sort of thing. Thin, super-crunchy, and w/a hint of rye/caraway, these go down easily. Lots of fiber too so they help scrub out your insides too ;-)
