Wellements Bora Bora Organic Wellness Snack Bar, Cranberry Crunch

First to recommend

Description

I am into bars, specifically energy bars. They make a great snack and these days they make them taste less like dirt and more like deliciousness. One problem I was finding though is that some of them are really high in calories ... calories are not a friend of mine. I put myself on a mission to find a good tasting bar with less than 200 calories.

I have found quite a few -- Larabars are around 190 and Kind bars are 190 as well. Anyways, I went to Costco to buy one of those brands in bulk when I found Bora Bora bars.

Bora Bora bars are around 150 calories and actually taste better than Kind and Lara. They are all natural, non-GMO, they are gluten free, with no preservatives, are USDA Organic and certified vegan. PLUS they are Trans fat free. Low in sodium. No sugar added. Low glycemic carbs.

Wowsa! I think I have found the perfect nutrition bar.

Think Thin Bars

Description

I am a snacker, I can't help it -- it's just how I am wired. I am always looking for a new energy bar that can get me out of my 3:00 slump. Think Thin is my latest favorite. They are more candy bar like than the other energy bars out there with flavors like Peanut Butter/ Chocolate.

They have the perfect amount of calories, not too much and not too little. Bars that are loaded with calories seems like a complete waste to me and ones with too few leave me starved in a matter of hours. ThinkThin bars are satisfying and tasty.

You can usually find them at places like Trader Joes and Whole Foods the PB and Chocolate kinds are my favorite.

Description

Edamame makes a great snack. The kind I buy are already shelled, I use pop them in some boiling water, drain, salt and eat. Great alternative to a bag of chips or some other fattening snacky food.

Van's Gourmet Waffles

2 people recommended this item

Description

On carb-Saturdays (I am a total freak, I realize this) I start my morning off with Vans frozen waffles. They are so tasty they are made with whole wheat (or you can go wheat free), are loaded with fiber, some are packed with flax seed and other good stuff. I eat mine plain, noting on them, so they must be good if I can do that.

SPLENDA No Calorie Sweetener, Flavor Blends for Coffee, French Vanilla

First to recommend

Description

I love this stuff! I saw it in the grocery store and I couldn't decide if I should buy it. I picked it and walked away, walked back, picked up and walked away. Long story short- I bought the stuff. I don't drink coffee but I do put a packet of the stuff in my unsweetened vanilla almond milk and it makes for a delicious little treat.

Swiss Miss No Sugar Added Hot Chocolate Mix, Hot Cocoa

First to recommend

Description

I honestly think I would die without this stuff. Die. It's the only thing that keeps me sane when I want to eat a dozen cookies. The shot of sugar free chocolate "flavor" (there can't really be chocolate in there) is just what the doctor ordered on a cold night.

Jennie-O Turkey Store Products- Extra Lean Turkey Breasts

First to recommend

Description

Jennie O is like my best friend. Well not her, her turkey products. You see I am a total freak of nature. I am probably the only non-vegetarian in the world who refuses to eat chicken. Because I am a anti-chickenite (yes I made up that term) I have to replace chicken recipes with turkey. I love Jennie O because she offers turkey breast choices, which is much better for you. I go for the ground extra lean the most often but I also go with the cutlets and if I am feeling saucy I go with the turkey sausages.

Walnut Acres Organic Beans, Black Beans, 15-Ounce Cans

Description

Maybe it's the Cuban in me but I can't have a cabinet without a can of black beans in them. The other night I baked some turkey breasts and topped them with a black bean veggie mixture, it was damn delicious.

I read about this stuff on Hungry-Girl.com and immediately went out and bought it a container of the Vanilla Unsweetened Almond Milk. This stuff is really good. Here is how I make it:

Take one up of the stuff, heat it up for about a minute
Add a packet of vanilla flavored Splenda
A dollop of fat free cool whip
Top it with a shake of cinnamon and enjoy
