Items for My New Puppy - a list by AmandaGayle

About this list:
My parents promised me a puppy as a Christmas gift, but I can't have it until I get moved into a house. Thankfully, that's going to be sooner rather than later, and it's never too soon to start thinking ahead.

Yorkshire Terriers for Dummies
First to recommend
Description
I desperately want this book, especially after reading the little excerpts on Amazon. It looks to be incredibly informative and extremely helpful... and would definitely prepare me for dealing with the Yorkie of my dreams. This one looks like a miracle in a book.
ETA: I finally managed to get my hands on it at Borders (who would've thought that it would be so hard to find a book on Yorkies?) and read it in three days. It was a very wonderful read and I feel so much more prepared for a dog than I did initially. Yorkshire Terriers are one of the more unique Toy Breeds and anyone thinking of buying a Yorkie should definitely check this book out first... they're not all sugar, kisses, and cuddles... these dogs have spunk and personality too!

Personalized Small Pave Bone ID Tag

Description
Ok, I admit it's probably a little frivolous to bling out a dog with one of these, but it's just too adorable. Besides, you can engrave a couple of lines of information on the back, even if it isn't really much.

Description
It's nice to have a dish for water that you don't have to refill every single day. This waterer is fantastic for small pets, especially when you might not be home for a while. I give it a thumbs up!

Color Blocks Dishware and Mat

Description
Normally I'm a cheap-and-simple-plastic-pet-food-dish kind of person, but these are just too adorable to turn my nose up to. Your choice of two different food dish sizes, a water dish, and an adorable bone-shaped placemat to help keep your floor clean.

Dingo Mini Rawhide Value Packs

Description
My mom's Yorkie/Maltese mix absolutely loves these things. And since I'm hoping for a little Yorkie (or Yorkie mix), these should be perfect for the new little princess.

Flexi All-Belt 2 Retractable Belt Leashes
First to recommend
Description
Retractable leashes are possibly the best thing since sliced bread. They're nice and neat for storage, great for controlling how far the dog is away from you (without having to wrap the leash around your hand), and sort of fashionable. Well, this one might not be fashionable, but some are. This one is just practical and relatively inexpensive, which is why I love it.

Farnam Easy Brush for Dogs
First to recommend
Description
This is a totally adorable alternative to baby toothbrushes (which are what my mom uses on her dog and cat)... Definitely perfect for the soon-to-be new puppy in my life, especially since no one wants to get nasty-breath doggy kisses.

TRAVEL-tainer Pet Feeding System
First to recommend
Description
I take a lot of road trips to Nebraska and Iowa to see my parents and bother (respectively), and this would be perfect to keep in the car for feeding at rest stops. The best part is that everything is kept together -- nice, neat, and handy. Adorable and practical.

Sherpa Tote Around Town Bag
First to recommend
Description
My mom has one of these and they are seriously perfect for small dogs. They're discrete -- most people don't even know you have a dog (as long as it doesn't move around too much or woof) and they're relatively stylish. My mom's dog loves getting in and out of it and it really makes life easier for everyone involved. Definitely a must-have.

Travelin' Dog Pet Seat
First to recommend
Description
Small dogs really hate not being able to see out the window whenever they want. And since it's a lot safer to not have them climbing into your lap every time they need to check out their surroundings, a puppy car sear seems like the perfect alternative. Just buckle it into your car and they can enjoy a stable and secure journey while also being able to satisfy their curiosity.
