About this list:

Art is a much different place in a post-punk environment. Having a wall and mantle and desktop full of engaging, pretense-free art that is fun and cheap is no problem these days.

I'm broke.

Everything by Scott Rench

First to recommend

Description

Designed by Chicago-based ceramic artist and illustrator Scott Rench (aka Yosoh), as part of Unkl Brand's UniPo Fan Series, this "Everything" figure says something about hyperactive marketing consumption. I'd describe it further, but I can't concentrate long enough to get my head around it.

Claude & Jeanette Fafinettes by Fafi

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Turning street art into vinyl collectibles is not always the easiest trick, but Fafi has had some good luck with the project. Her evolving collection of figurines perfectly captures the mix of sex and sass that has brought her provocative, feminine graffiti much attention in a male-dominated space. Kind of sad that it will mostly be creepy collectors buying this stuff, but these pieces are probably also inspiring some grad student's dissertation on this artist's work.

DOUCEUR DE LAIT PLATE SET

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

We're currently seeing a resurgence of the collectable plate that positions the item in a far different place than the kind of grandmotherly elements that have traditionally informed the pursuit. The plate is now more a platform for niche-market artists and graphic designers. Each of these Surface 2 sets by French design house Domestic comes with two designs by one artist.

Mac x Barack Obama Print

5 people recommended this item

Description

Obama's connection with young voters is pretty evident in the fact that he has by now inspired multiple campaign/appreciation posters from counterculture-tinged artists, including Shepherd Fairey and now Mac for Upper Playground. Like the former, this one was produced in limited numbers and utilizes unconventional printing techniques. Get it while you can. (via sygyzy)

kozyndan Bunny Eater t-shirt

2 people recommended this item

Description

With Easter coming up, there's no better time to explore Kozyndan's often-provocative relationship with bunnies. There's also something really appealing about wearing the work of fine artists on a tee shirt that everyone will recognize as simply a fun tee shirt and knowing that the artists wouldn't have it any other way.
