I've been in the mood for nautical things lately. Perhaps I've been listening to the Decemberists too much. But this t-shirt caught my fancy. From afar it looks like your average nifty flocked pattern, but on closer inspection the nautical theme is clear. And the slight color gradient works really well here. Anchors away!

Sea Urchin Box

I have a strange fascination with sea urchins. One of my favorite things as a kid was when my mom would let me play with the sea urchins she used in her developmental biology class. They feel very odd when they walk across your hand, and as prickly as they look, they don't hurt. When they passed away, their shells would dry out and the spines fall off, leaving this delicate looking husk behind. Here someone has used the beauty of the sea urchin's shell to make a box to hold your precious treasure, or just adorn your favorite table.

I love it when people print on something other than your generic plain t-shirt. The stripey blue look works so well here. The muted colors add to the sense of foreboding I get. Like a storm's about to break out or a giant whale is going to burst forth and swallow the crew.

Cartography on a Dollar a Day T-Shirt

Description

Antique maps are so cool. They were made when the world was something magical, and no one knew what might lay over the horizon. Back then going to sea was risky business, and you might not be the same when you came back. Show your love of the old sea-faring spirit with this tee. Normally I'm not a fan of cream or white shirts, but there's no other way to properly display this, unless it involves a pan filled with tea and a few matches.

Goldberg on the High Sea Tee

Description

What would happen is Rube Goldberg created a sea monster? That seems to be what this tee wants to figure out. It's certainly interesting, and I kinda dig the purple lines. They sort of remind me of someone drafting plans. I think I'd like it more on a more interesting shirt color, but cream works alright. Definitely like the concept though.

So not only do I have a slight mariner fixation at the moment, but I'm also a PuzzlePirates fanatic. I can't believe someone actually made a shirt that caters to my dual obsessions! The only frustration is that no matter how hard these little matties work, they're no closer to the completion of their fine vessel.

I really do love koi. The specific design of this one reminds me of a draing of a dragon too. And overprinted ink is fun as well. It's a pretty basic design, but it's simple and well executed.
