Words unfurling in space like visible sounds. Wise, eternal spiral of typography like the age rings on a cross section of a tree. This inspires me!

Teun Hocks Photography

Description
I first saw this Dutch photographer's work in Grand Central Station many years ago, and his surreal images intrigue me to this day. Imagine if Magritte photographed himself doing mundane tasks with a delightfully impossible twist and you have the work of Teun Hocks.

Visual Acoustics: The Modernism of Julius Shulman
First to recommend
Description
I am a HUGE fan of Julius Shulman and this documentary is all about his ground breaking architectural photography. His images helped shape the careers of some of the greatest architects of the 20th Century: Richard Neutra, Rudolph Schindler, Pierre Koenig, John Lautner, and many others. I just got tickets to see this on Saturday, June 27th at the Los Angeles MOCA. When this is available on DVD I'll buy it too.

Electra Alexander Girard bike
First to recommend
Description
I was bike shopping recently and saw this in a local store. It's a classic cruiser style bike with 3 speeds and a rack above the back wheel and a classic ringy-ring-ring bell. I took it for a test spin and it rides like a dream. But why am I really in love with this bike? It's tricked out with Alexander Girard's artwork! It comes in 2 styles - the "tree of life" and "madonna"(shown) which has pretty white flowers on a baby blue seat. Click on take a closer look under the picture to see both designs. This is my dream bike!

Frames : Graham & Brown

Description
Like a blank canvas for your wall or a brand new coloring book, this wallpaper is simply a pattern of hand drawn frames that you can fill in with your own art. This would be perfect for an office or any room where your mind likes to creatively wander (the bathroom perhaps?).

20x200 art : Industrial poster
First to recommend
Description
20x200 sells truly affordable, limited edition art prints. The great part about this site is that you can buy any print in one of 3 sizes & prices: 8x10" is $20, 11x14" is $50, and 16x20" is $200. You can support an artist and refresh your decor without emptying your whole wallet. I especially like this print from Christine Berrie. It's from a series of pencil drawings about industrial details of London. It has an honesty and graphic appeal that I'm really attracted to.

Description
I actually read this book on my 12 hour flight to trip to Italy. Warhol talks about love, sex, beauty, fame, work, money, success; about New York and Americanca; and about himself. I seriously giggled out loud about some of the things he writes about. Very interesting and fun to learn about the insights of Warhol.
