Fit Ball

First to recommend

Description

Fit Balls are inflatable exercise balls that are great for helping to develop core/abdominal strength, as well as balance. I use mine for ab work-outs that are low-stress on my back but high intensity for my core. Fit Balls are great overall training tools and I recommend them for any sport which requires solid core strength (which is really just about every sport)

I also use my Fit Ball as a chair. Sitting on one of these balls while working is fun, good for your balance, and does not cut blood off to your legs the way some chairs can when they hit the back of your knees/hamstrings. I am 6'2". If you are my height, get the 75cm ball. Also be sure to get the pump. Makes life much easier.

If you have kids, Fit Balls are a super fun toy for them as well. Imagine if you had had a ball as big as you were tall when you were a kid. How cool is that?!

GNC Pro Performance - Mega MRP - Chocolate Drink Mix

First to recommend

Description

OK- this stuff is a bit of an acquired taste but I happen to really like it. It tastes like chocolate (which is not true of many "chocolate" sports drinks), it mixes easily, and it fills me up. Plus it seems to work and has lots of protein. I often drink one of these 20 min or so before surfing or beginning a climbing session and it keeps me going throughout.

JC Hawaii Surfboards - The Semi- Gun shaped by John Carper

First to recommend

Description

JC makes simply awesome boards. Amazing shape, lots of power, super responsive, cool designs/colors. The semi-gun is the tool needed for the bigger days when you need to set the rail and go. I love his boards and have surfed on them since I first tried one out nearly a decade ago.

Saraina Koat Mentawai : Surf Charter Boats

First to recommend

Description

Saraina Koat runs some really sweet charters to the Mentawais. I HIGHLY recommend them: organized, good crew, good food, knowledgeable guides, and nice boats. Also, a boat is totally the way to go. You have far more flexibility andchoice of breaks. Plus no bugs since you are offshore and the mozzies can't smell you from that far away

The best surf atlas out there. A GREAT gift for surfers. This is a softcover cofeetable book so it is fun way to spend a little time daydreaming.

The North American companion to the World Stormriders Guide. Somewhat annoyingly, it does not include Hawaii.

Surfline Premium Edition

First to recommend

Description

Surfline is the best wave-cam network I have found so far. The premium subscription is worth the money even though their network is often realllly sloooow.

DAKINE World Traveler w/Wheels Surfboard Bag

First to recommend

Description

If you are going to travel w/your boards, this is the best bag out there, imho. Strong, protects the boards, won't fall apart, and not nearly as unwieldy as a case. Depending on the thickness of your boards, you can fit between 3-5 boards into one of these things.

FCS fg-5

First to recommend

Description

I have both O'Fishl and FCS fins and I have to say, I still think I like FCS better. Easier to get in and out, though it is clearly a bummer if/when the threads on the screws get stripped.
