swiss army leakproof travel pouches

2 people recommended this item
Description
Not just for keeping things from leaking out, they're also great for protecting the items inside from getting wet. You can't really use this any longer for liquids for carry-ons (silly liquids ruling at airports), you can still use if you are checking in your bags. I have multiple bags, and I use one for storing my computer accessories and cords and another for my ipod and its attachments.
These are especially cool because the inner lining is anti-bacterial, which prevents growth of odor and mildew. $36

iPod Video Goggles
5 people recommended this item
Description
It seems almost inevitable that the person you're buying a Valentines Day present for already has a Video iPod. They like it because they can watch Battlestar Galactica on it, but would really fall in love if they could watch it on slightly larger screen. These video goggles are just that. They make it look like you're watching a 24" screen, but still allow you to take it and watch it on the go.

Pocket Laser Light Show

Description
There is always a quest during Burning Man to deck out your tent... I don't know how or why, but I've fallen into that trap too. You start thinking about how to make your tent cool. You NEVER spend any time in your tent except to crash. Regardless, I want one of these. The mini laser light show. It small and uses batteries, so it's perfect for travel. It's very inexpensive ($15). And I haven't seen it amongst my Burner buddies yet. I am so silly.

Chain Mail T-Shirt

Description
I love those guys at ThinkGeek. They really come up with the silliest, whackiest and coolest stuff sometimes. I've never seen chain mail designs outside of sexy bikinis, etc... Well, and costumes for Shakespearean lovers. The fact they are selling these T-shirts for office warfare... hilarious. It has got to be soooo heavy on! Hey, good exercise perk.

Cabasse Eole system

Description
Other than the fact this won the Best Sound Award at the last Electronics Consumer Show, these micro spheres are great looking! I don't mind having having these exposed in my home. I was planning on installing hidden speakers all over my house, but this is a much easier solution (and probably less expensive). (via GizMag)

solar-powered mouse

Description
Finally, someone has invented the solar mouse. I'm so tired of changing batteries on my wireless mouse... I'm using rechargeable batteries, but what a pain! And eventually those will need to be replaced too.
1.5 hours of direct sunlight will get this mouse working like your regular ones. (via Inhabitat)

BrightHandle
First to recommend
Description
I have so many people coming and going from my house, this light changing bathroom door handle would be very handy to have, especially given the fact my doors do not have locks. Red means bathroom is occupied and green means it's free. Uses two small batteries. Nicely designed and not at all cheesy looking, which is hard to accomplish with anything that lights up.

NZT-22 Tempest Goggles - Night Vision
First to recommend
Description
Since this is on my Burning Man "wish list", I am going to have to include these $1,000 night vision goggles. I'm not sure I would be able to use these anywhere else, but what fun I would have if I did have these for Burning Man. I'll bet everyone else in my camp would love it too! Actually, I can see not ever finding it because someone ran off with it.

AQUS sink to toilet water system
First to recommend
Description
I’ve been evaluating gray water systems for a potential future install in my home. They’re complicated and confusing. They also require serious planning and installation requirements. Yesterday my friend Spench told me about this - I can’t believe this was not thought of and introduced before now. It is a no-brainer and an incredibly easy solution that will save tons of water!
The AQUS™ System captures water from the bathroom sink, then filters and disinfects it to provide reused water for toilet flushing. (via grenade fishing)
