Leonard Cohen - Various Positions

First to recommend

Description

After all these years, he still makes me feel like longing for something for someone. He is Mr. Leonard Cohen critically acclaimed poet and song writer. His fall return to the U.S. will mark the final engagements of the intimate, superbly crafted concert tour.

Nico's Chelsea Girl (1967) was not her debut solo effort. The album is an introspective with a longing for dreams and love.

The Trinity Session: Cowboy Junkies

First to recommend

Description

The Trinity Sessions by the Cowboy Junkies is perhaps the key album and one that I can't live without. Between misguided angel up to blue moon, I'm fall into reflective deepness and a desire for a a cup of joe, poetry lines and great company (aka the audience). Thank you the 90s and thank you Nick's Cafe in Claremont.

KCRW Radio's Rare On Air Vol. 1

First to recommend

Description

Perhaps one of the most important albums of my time. It includes most of my favorites, Leonard Cohen, Tori Amos, Evan Dando with Juliana, Michael Penn, X, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Lucinda Williams and many more. If had to recommend one more album before I die it would be this beauty of rare collective sounds.

I felt complete when I first heard Mano Negra and was introduced to Manu Chao. Perhaps the one man that changed my life through his meaningful song.

I'm still very sad and can't believe he is gone. Forever in my heart you will be Joey. Great album and great way of getting to know the late artist again.

PJ Harvey

First to recommend

Description

She will not visit LA but I am okay with this because, we sometimes suck and because she is PJ Harvey and she commands our attention. Since 1991 began an impressive career. Rolling Stone named Harvey Best Songwriter and Best New Female Singer and I absolutely agree. I truly love her and will continue to stay tuned!

Torchwood - The Complete First Season

First to recommend

Description

Torchwood and Doctor Who are the absolute best shows on tv. I know many would argue that that honor currently belongs to Battlestar Galatica (which I do like a lot) but I disagree.

When I was first introduced to the character of Captain Jack Harkness in Season 1 of Doctor Who he rather annoyed me. I never saw how I would ever come to like this character. Let me tell you, Captain Jack rocks! While at first introduction he might seem a very shallow character he is absolutely not. He is an extremely complex character that I love more with each episode. However, it is not just Captain Jack that makes Torchwood so spectacular . It is the entire cast of characters and their complex relationships. it is Jack, Tosh, Ianto, Gwen and Owen that make it all work.

If you are new to the Doctor Who/Torchwood world, I would recommend watching Season 1-3 of Doctor Who and then watching Season 1 of Torchwood if you want to get the full history (and Jack's). However, if you just want to dig it and start watching Torchwood, they do explain enough that you will enjoy the show and it will make sense.

Check this out and see what a great ensemble cast really looks like!
