Preppy Plaid PJ by Lilly Pulitzer

First to recommend

Description

When it comes time for bed, my first thought is of comfort. Style is a distant second. Fortunately, pajamas like these make it possible for me to both look cute (if not even remotely sexy) and stay cozy. And, who but LP would be brilliant enough to combine green and pink to make a plaid ?!

Urban Outfitters: Plaid Briefcase Bag by Play by C. Ronson

First to recommend

Description

I love the interior of this bag (fully lined and loaded with pockets) almost as much as the exterior (available in navy or scarlet). Smartly trimmed and buckled, it will be as much wardrobe enhancement as necessities carrier.

Urban Outfitters: Men's 2 Pocket Plaid Cardigan by Shades of Greige

First to recommend

Description

This is a far cry from the sweater Mister Rogers wore. The fitted shape and tartan-like plaid make this cardigan a stand-out topper. And the pockets are a sly finishing touch.

Makr Leather and Fabric: Men's Vertical Pocket Wallet

First to recommend

Description

The subtle plaid on this wallet has been laser-etched into the leather, which is then finished by hand to create a slim profile case for cash, cards and receipts. A handsome gift to give or get.

Lauren by Ralph Lauren Lauren: Women's Appleby Cape

First to recommend

Description

The truly grand aspect of a cape is that you can throw it on over a pair of jeans and achieve instantaneous glamour. Not to mention that you can also throw it on over a blazer or coat with ease, for extra style, additional warmth . . . or both. And, this subtle brown plaid is perfect for those who aren't quite ready to go full frontal tartan.

Newport-News: Women's buffalo plaid blouse

First to recommend

Description

Freed from its lumberjack roots by a fresh color, cut and fabric, this blouse is bold but feminine. Keep it from stealing your show by keeping the rest of your look simple: jeans, a pencil skirt or black leggings.

French Connection: cherub check dress

First to recommend

Description

An entirely fresh spin on plaid is taken in this worthy rival to the LBD. Add a jacket or a tee underneath and this wool dress will work just as well for day. Belt it or throw on a pair of tall boots for a more provocative take.

French Connection: Men's mitchell shirt

First to recommend

Description

A plaid shirt with just enough character to make it interesting, lacking excessive detail to pin it down to any one particular genre. Wear it with jeans, under a blazer, over a tee. The black and blue make it cool and understated; the permanent press cotton keeps it neat and at-the-ready.

Janie And Jack: Girls' Victorian Blue Plaid Skirt

First to recommend

Description

Even a baby as small as 2T can wear this kilt-style, fully-lined skirt. Sure to be a treasure handed down to cousins and siblings, it is worth every inch of its cuteness.

Janie and Jack: Boys' Red Plaid Shirt

First to recommend

Description

I still remember the advertisement for Carter's children clothing: "If they could only stay little 'til their Carter's wore out !" Although I didn't appreciate its significance at the time, it dawns on me on how fast my son has grown. I thought that itty bitty denim jacket would fit him forever ! Yet, looking at pictures of him in it, I will never regret what I realize now was probably a frivolous purchase. And if he were still that little, I would buy him this plaid shirt in heartbeat.
