Since Summer 2007, I've been obsessed with brightening up my living room with yellow and white accents. The style of the room includes contemporary modern to mid-century vintage furniture pieces from Craigslist, Norfolk, and Overstock. The walls are painted in Yarmouth Blue and Cedar Key Benjamin Moore eggshell. The floors are a walnut stain.

There is something alien and elegant about these owl illustrations by Kat Heyes. I especially love the "blusher" print for its white/yellow color scheme and simplicity. I must have this on my wall post haste!

IKEA KARDEMUMMA planters

I absolutely adore the white KARDEMUMMA plant pots from IKEA! Especially the "stem" design, as it reminds me of Orla Kiely, whom I love. I've bought these pots in pretty much all sizes and they are absolutely perfect. The only way they could be better (which is a problem with most IKEA planters) if they had a drainage hole at the bottom with tray. So you must be sure to buy planting stones to help with drainage.

These could also be used as an umbrella receptacle.

Honestly, I would be happy with any of these colors! Since I have the morrocan west elm rug in orange, I bought these clearanced pillows to bring in more orange. But I do so love the yellow and blue too!

I'm really a believer in the benefits to having indoor plants. The hardest part next to keeping them alive and thriving is finding decent looking and functional planters. I admit that I don't know if this pot fits all aspects of functionality that any given plant needs, but I do so love the authentic modern design.

I absolutely adore this delicate and whimsical bird porcelain china set by the inspirational illustrator, Charley Harper. I think the teacups are the sweetest thing and would love to have the large serving bowl displayed in the center of my dining room table. Charming!
