Fit Ball
First to recommend
Description
Fit Balls are inflatable exercise balls that are great for helping to develop core/abdominal strength, as well as balance. I use mine for ab work-outs that are low-stress on my back but high intensity for my core. Fit Balls are great overall training tools and I recommend them for any sport which requires solid core strength (which is really just about every sport)
I also use my Fit Ball as a chair. Sitting on one of these balls while working is fun, good for your balance, and does not cut blood off to your legs the way some chairs can when they hit the back of your knees/hamstrings. I am 6'2". If you are my height, get the 75cm ball. Also be sure to get the pump. Makes life much easier.
If you have kids, Fit Balls are a super fun toy for them as well. Imagine if you had had a ball as big as you were tall when you were a kid. How cool is that?!

GNC Pro Performance - Mega MRP - Chocolate Drink Mix
First to recommend
Description
OK- this stuff is a bit of an acquired taste but I happen to really like it. It tastes like chocolate (which is not true of many "chocolate" sports drinks), it mixes easily, and it fills me up. Plus it seems to work and has lots of protein. I often drink one of these 20 min or so before surfing or beginning a climbing session and it keeps me going throughout.

Description
my current harness of choice. Good for sport routes but the stiff gearloops sometimes get caught under the legloops when highstepping.

Petzl SPIRIT Carabiners

Description
My fav biners. The keylock gate is so much better than the standard toothed system- it never snags on the rope or the gear as you are trying to place a piece or make a clip.

Five Ten Moccasym Climbing Shoe
First to recommend

Description
I have been climbing in these shoes for the last 5 years and love them. Great for overhanging sport routes or indoors at the gym where you want to be able to grab w/your toes better. The soft sole is less good on thin edges but I still like the way they perform on face climbs nonetheless. Also, they are comfortable and will stretch so your feet are not condemned to toe-box hell. Buy them .5-1 size smaller than your normal shoes.

Petzl Anodized Grigri Belay Device
First to recommend
Description
A must-have for sport climbinbg trips. Personally, I like to belay off of a grigri but my partner is not so keen on them. Go figure.
Autolocking feature makes dealing w/interminable hangdog sessions way more tolerable as your partner works a sequence.

CAMP USA Silver Star Helmet

Description
My next brain bucket (I currently have a Petzl Ecrin). Comfortable, durable, and protects your melon. Not super fond of this shade of blue but whatever....
As you can see, Climbing Mag also likes this helmet.

The Rock Warrior's Way: Mental Training for Climbers by Arno Ilgner
First to recommend
Description
Putting aside the sort of silly title, this is really an amazing book about getting your head together to climb your best. And we all know that climbing, first and foremost, is a head-game which makes Rock Warrior's Way a must-read.
One of the key insights Arno focuses on boils down to the following: stop whining about what you wish you had (ie a better hold or foot, better crimp strength, a longer reach, etc) and just start working w/what you do have. That seems like good advice in general, not just for climbing.
