Doggy-Bank

Description
Clearly channeling Jeff Koons, this Doggy Bank takes balloon art as its primary design resource. The play on Piggy-Bank is clever enough, but the weird metallic coloring is the primary visual draw.

Description
A fabulous looking bank that comes as 5 wooden pieces you put together yourself. Looks as though it's inspired by Piet Mondrian, so it makes it on two of my lists!

Jonathan Adler Pink Elephant Bank

Description
An elephant bank isn't so much of a stretch from a piggy bank, but I like the gentle joke suggested by the fact that this elephant is pink. It's most likely made for a little girl, but there's no way the joke is lost on Adler. Saving pennies for 40s?

Cofre Kidult Malina

Description
If a traditional piggy bank isn't doing it for you, this Brazilian piggy monster might add a little pizazz to the boring chore of saving pennies. I think she's winking at you. And she has blood dripping from her claws. How about that.

Sure, it's obnoxious and in bad taste. But so is hoarding pennies.

Bird Piggy Bank

Description
I'm not saying a kid is going to have more fun putting change into a chrome bird than they will using a piggy bank, but you're building an understanding of vast options every time you put something like this in front of a child. Of course, you'll have to answer a lot of questions that begin with "why," but that's part of the fun, too.

Jonathan Adler Black Elephant Bank
First to recommend
Description
The most rugged of Jonathan Adler's Elephant Banks, this black stoneware piece is slightly reminiscent of Oaxacan pottery. Simple textures make the piece understated with just a touch of the fun the characterizes so much of Adler's work.

Orange Jack Rabbit Ceramic Bank

Description
An understated variation on the classic piggy bank, this ceramic bank features only the most basic lines and a coin slot on the rabbit's back. Underside access allows you to avoid breaking the bank for a few coins.
