Black Honey curved bowl

Description

Arik Levy used the relatively new process of stereolithography to make this fascinating bowl.

Stereolithography (SLA) is a process of creating "rapid prototypes", allowing one to "print" three-dimensional structures from a digital image. First, a CAD computer model of the object is digitally sliced into very thin layers. Then each digital layer is physically 'drawn' with a laser which fuses together or hardens the chosen material particle by particle. Upon completion, the physical model replicates the CAD computer model to the finest detail.

Tube Vase by Arik Levy

Description

The tubes collection is a series of geometric forms interacting with each other like a group of different personalities. Each one has its own agenda, posture and energy. Each form was conceived to be a stand-alone piece but they can also de displayed as a group. The different colors, monochromatic or mixed, textures and finishes enhance the notion of individual personality. The series is a limited and numbered edition, whose unique anti-designs will stand out on any surface.

Titanium Ceremony Flower Sticks

This design alludes to the art and ceremony involved in making a flower arrangement. The handmade titanium coated glass tubes are of different widths so they can be slotted into one another to create an unusual ornamental display, with or without flowers.

Mistic Candleholder

Description

This contemporary piece has been designed to be used as either a candleholder, a unique vase or simply as sculptural decor. The glass at the base is boras silicate glass, which is heat-resistant. The seven titanium coated, interwoven, tubes are deep enough to hold individual flowers, for a striking flower arrangement. This design won the "Design Plus" award in 2006.

Heliodor and Herkimer are names of natural crystal formations. Heliodor is a clear yellow variety of beryl found near Rossing, Namibia, and prized as a gemstone; Herkimer is an exceptionally clear quartz crystal from Herkimer County, NY. Designed by Arik Levy, 2004
