Natural disasters in every season occur here in the Midwest. From ice storms, tornadoes and severe thunder storms --- keep your Mom on top pf things and prepared in such an event.

I purchased one of these after a nasty power outage, without a battery-powered radio and dwindling cell phone strength. I combed the reviews on Amazon until I was satisfied that I would be making just the right buy.

The whole thing is no longer than a dollar bill, is lightweight and gets great reception. The cell phone charger works as well, but you have to use the hand crank more than I thought I would. Overall, a very good buy at $30. Just tell Mom to set it in her windowsill in case of emergencies! (via amazon.com)

Don't ask me why my Mom loves this show so much, because, frankly I don't get it. However, it does happen to be one of her favorite shows. She watches the syndicated episodes as well as the new ones that air. (via amazon.com)

My Mom loves this show in all of its incarnations. The flashes of gore, the pseudo-science (well, not all of it's inaccurate), the snarky dialogue --- she digs it all. Oh and using The Who and a lead-in was a kicker! (via amazon.com)

Now anyone that has seen OZ knows that this hardcore prison drama is NOT for the squeamish. It really is an amazing series. However, when it was a regular series on HBO --- my Mom loved it, making it a perfect Mother's Day gift. LOL

Only problem is, it showed full frontal. Not a problem for many of my friends, but for my Mom, she just can't watch "Law and Order" anymore. Christopher Maloney just isn't the same as a fully-clothed good guy. She just keeps picturing him as a nude (gotta be careful how I choose my words here) man-raping, convict. What an actor. My Mom collects pigs. Anything with a pig on it. She also has a snarky sense of humor. She has a magnet on her refrigerator with this saying on it. I think this would be perfect for her. She has passed on her low tolerance for fools onto me. (via etsy.com)
