Kong Cool Kong Floating Retriever Toy

First to recommend

Description

Two toys in one! Use it to play fetch (works great in the water because it floats) or for tug of war. It's pretty durable - mine lasted for nearly two years of daily use before they popped the rope out.

The nylon rope can be tough on your hands, but it probably helps keep your dog's teeth nice 'n pearly white.

Ultraslim Laser Pointer

First to recommend

Description

Lasers are like crack to my dogs. And having gone through several types of laser pointers, this matchbook-sized version is my favorite. It stands up to being dropped, the batteries are pretty easy to replace (it takes a watch battery, somewhat more inconvenient than the pen-style laser pointers, though) and the button has a nice ergonomic design, important when you need to press it for long intervals.

Also a popular game for cats.

Hyper Doggie Driver: Golfing with Doggie

2 people recommended this item

Description

Work on your golf swing and give your pup some exercise at the same time!

Maybe it's not quite like hitting a nine-iron from the rough, but it gets the job done. Work on your hand-eye coordination, and never stoop to pick up a soggy tennis ball again.

Hurley Durable Dog Toy - Large Aqua Blue

First to recommend

Description

If your dogs love to chew, tug, fetch and play keep away, the Hurley bone is a great choice. It's stood up to months of near-constant use - and with two labs working on it, that's saying a lot!

It also floats, so you can take it to the nearest lake, although at about $10 a pop, I'm a little hesitant to do that unless I plan on retrieving it myself if something more interesting comes along.

Chuckit Flying Squirrel Dog Toy

First to recommend

Description

This "flying squirrel" is basically a Frisbee for dogs, with a few great features: It is flexible, it stands up to several weeks of hardcore tug-of-war, and is pretty much chew-resistant because it's made of heavy-duty nylon. (As I speak, my dog is tearing a different, all-plastic disc to bits. In my living room.)

It floats, flies and flips in the air! Hours of fun! I recommend keeping a stock of dog treats on hand so you get it back--my dogs love it so much, they'd rather keep it for themselves.

When it gets dirty, I just stick in the dishwasher. It's as good as new when the cycle's done!

Powzer Flash 'n Dash Ball for Dogs at PETCO

First to recommend

Description

With long hours at work, short daylight hours and a hyperactive puppy on hand, I was desperate. I needed something that would wear her out. This blinky ball does the trick - and it's lasted months!

It's a hard plastic ball, so avoid pavement use (unless you roll it), but it's perfect on dark grassy lots. The light blinks for about 25 seconds at a time, so if your dog wanders off and drops it somewhere, make sure you act quickly if you're using it at night. (A little jiggle gets the ball to light up, your dog can usually do it itself.)
