Description

It's my "awesome face of the moment"... and now it's yours. Gimme some Big, and gimme some Caslon. Caslon was one of my first "favorite" text faces... sturdy and "invisible" at the same time. This one here works well in large sizes, but won't dominate the page (unless you really want it to). So, obviously, it's awesome.

Been a subscriber since day one and still look forward to every issue's arrival in the mailbox. The houses and projects featured are always top-notch and informative, but you've got to check out the Modern Market section in the back for a lot of very cool stuff! As mentioned by others, they have a great website too.

My face of the moment is "Rocket"... available from myfonts and it looks a heck of a lot nicer when you see it set (as you can see it here in the picture) than when you look at just the characters. So have a look. And enjoy.

My face of the moment is "Home Sweet Home." This is actually a face I use quite often, especially when I need a hand-stitched feeling for some kinda design I'm designing... or, indeed, when I need that hand-stitched feel for something ironic... something trendish that needs to look untrendish. Also, right now? I'm working at home. So home sweet home it is.

Description

One of the designer's "Must Have" magazines. Even if you hate/despise/loathe everything between its covers, you still have to have it so that you will know what not to do, so you won't hate/despise/loathe the work that you do. Though how you could hate/despise/loathe what goes on in Communication Arts is beyond me. Very pro. Very tasty. Eat 'em up.

The Elements of Typographic Style: Robert Bringhurst

Description

One of the best books on typography ever written. Especially useful to the book designer. I likely never would have designed a single book had it not been for this book... which actually made typography seem alive. And that's a neat trick if there ever was one.
