Danskin: Women's Triathlon 5" Floral Bike Short

Don't be fooled by the floral design. These shorts are tough enough to make the transition from water to bike to road without stopping (and with resistance to abrasion, bacteria and chlorine). Of all the Olympic sports, this is the one which intrigues me the most. (Probably because I have a feeling I would get swamped by the competition in the swimming leg of the event.) So, my warmest wishes to the U.S. women who will be competing in Beijing: Laura Bennett, Julie Ertel and Sarah Haskins.

USA Gymnastics - Beijing Bound Hooded Sweatshirt

Of all the Olympic events, gymnastics (men's, women's and rhythmic) is the one I watch with the greatest enthusiasm. Perhaps it is because I can only manage a lame cartwheel. Or that I grew up worshiping Mary Lou Retton. In any case, these are the athletes to watch this year. Women: Shawn Johnson, Nastia Liukin, Chellsie Memmo, Alicia Sacramone, Samantha Peszek, Bridget Sloan, Ivana Hong, Janna Bieger and Corrie Lothrop. Men: Paul Hamm, Jonathan Horton, Morgan Hamm, Kevin Tan, Joe Hagerty and Justin Spring. (Unfortunately, the US did not win a place in the Rhythmic Gymnastics event for the 2008 Summer Olympics.)
