Buffalo Technology LinkStation Live
First to recommend
Description
We recently upgraded from a KuroBox to the LinkStation 1TB. It's perfect for sharing (including iTunes) and backing up files from all of our computers via our home network. It's a significant element in our home entertainment setup since it can be modded to run media center (XBox 360) compatible software, allowing us to play our media through the Xbox to the TV. It's fairly quiet and consumes little power. Also, it allows you to access your files anytime via web browser from anywhere, handy that.
The LSlive v2 is nearly identical to the KuroBox Pro but significantly cheaper since it comes with the drive. However, it isn't quite as easy to mod as the Kuro because you have to pull the drive and boot from a live cd in order to repartition it.

Elevator - Desktop Stand for Personal Computers
6 people recommended this item
Description
At work I depend on a dual-monitor setup, one being my Macbook Pro and one being my 23" HD monitor. I like setting the laptop on a stand to elevate it to a similar height as the larger monitor so I don't go hunching over to see it. The clear plastic of this particular model blends nicely with the work environment.

LaCie d2 Quadra Hard Drive
2 people recommended this item
Description
Having an external hard drive is essential to keeping your data protected with regular back-ups. I have Apple's Time Machine set up, all I have to do is plug the USB into my Macbook Pro daily and no worries. It's super quiet save when it first turns on, but hey, you know it's on then. 500GB isn't too shabby.
