Wanderlust Survival - a list by corrosiveheart

About this list:

This is a comprehensive list of survival products (and ideas!) for the busy traveller that faces every day challenges of hassles, hunger, and boredom. Even if you're taking your first flight or extended trip, you'll want to consider these items! (I've slept in airport terminals, been laid over for over 12 hours, and have taken 14+ hour train rides before I spent another 20 hours in the air or airports. I've lived out of a bag, slept in odd and soggy places, and have survived hunger in quite unique ways.)

Qualifications:

I'm an experienced world traveller - no doubt!

Printed Umbrellas: Old Navy

First to recommend

Description

In the past I've spent 5-50 dollars each on umbrellas either because of the design or price. This time I've found fun umbrellas from Old Navy that are both gorgeous and budget-wise. For 10 bucks you can keep yourself dry without compromising style, and these are so compact that you can store or take these anywhere

Barnsits från IN THE POCKET BABY av Camilla Altéus, Fia Sjöström.

First to recommend

Description

I would definitely describe this travel child seat as both child and parent friendly. My husband and I are the parents of two small children under the ages of two and one problem we've found when travelling are the options for your children and babies. Many times there's only one baby chair available in the restaurant so one of us has to hold the other. We also travel frequently (even with our children with us) and sometimes the language problem doesn't make it easy to ask for another seat. This practical and compact seat works almost like sling but is attached to a chair. You can fold and pack this away easily and can be used with almost any chair. It's a must-have for parents and little ones on the go.

Victorinox Swiss Army - Hanging Toiletry Kit

First to recommend

Description

I won't lie, one of the main reasons I'd give this to my husband is so that I could use it and throw a few of my extra items in there when we travel. The small and large compartments create ample storage for easier organization, had a dual-sided compartments water-resistant coated pockets, and wow - it has anit-bacterial lining! Unlike many hanging toiletry bags this one actually has smart side-panel storage for all those quick items that you might need at hand.

Victorinox Swiss Army - WT Tote

First to recommend

Description

Oh my - I must have this. It's not that I'm completely overwhelmed by the modern design but this baby maximizes what your old carry-on couldn't. My husband and I travel quite a bit and take several flights a year (Europe and overseas) and always cringe at the differences and security standards each country has. The dimensions and weight of this fantastic tote mean we're actually able to carry more and stay organized through the chaos of travelling and connections at endless terminals.

Victorinox Swiss Army - CS3 Adjustable Cross Suspension Computer Sleeve

First to recommend

Description

I love this sleek laptop sleeve from Swiss Army. The expandable design self-adjusts to hold multiple sizes of laptops, secures your laptop with its patented crosssuspension system that provides unparalleled shock and impact protection, and of course is incredibly durable. This sleeve is also thin enough that it doesn't bulk up the rest of your baggage when travelling. (A key point for travellers like us that MUST minimize items for maximum space.)

tinymeat :: Oh Shit- Duck and Cover - Passport Case

First to recommend

Description

I just bought this as an early Christmas present for my husband and I know he'll like it. Since we do quite a bit of travelling overseas and throughout Europe I know this will go to great use and I know it'll get a smile. Just a warning though, I'm not sure this is the best gift for first time travellers that have a flying phobia. :)

tinymeat :: For the Birds Passport Case - Ashley G for Tinymeat

First to recommend

Description

Since for the next little while I'll have to carry around two passports (due to residence and visas) when travelling I can't think of another reason why I shouldn't be organized and do it in style! I'm a big fan of Ashley G (etsy) and this print in particular has always been one of my favourites. This passport cover also includes pockets for ID and other items, is definitely not bulky, and it's incredibly sturdy. This also makes a great gift for that traveller in the family.

Collapsible European Market Tote

Description

This lightweight basket (picnic basket) would be so perfect for when we're scouring markets this summer in Prague. It's compact and light which is perfect for travelling, it's reusable, and I love the different designs. It's comfy, smart, and compact. What else could you want?

Mini Maxi Shopper Long Handle

3 people recommended this item

Description

I own this incredible resuable bag in the yellow version. It's practical enough to use it for everyday use at the shop, and the pattern gives it a little fancy omph to use for other slightly more formal occasions. It fits and stores so well because of its compact design and I definitely plan to take it with me when we travel next month. You know when you spend the day antique shopping or souvenir shopping but don't want to look like a total tourist? I'm definitely going to stock this bag with the little things we find on our trip. It's lightweight, durable, and compact. What more could you ask for when you're travelling?
