Wanderlust Survival - a list by corrosiveheart

About this list:
This is a comprehensive list of survival products (and ideas!) for the busy traveller that faces every day challenges of hassles, hunger, and boredom. Even if you're taking your first flight or extended trip, you'll want to consider these items! (I've slept in airport terminals, been laid over for over 12 hours, and have taken 14+ hour train rides before I spent another 20 hours in the air or airports. I've lived out of a bag, slept in odd and soggy places, and have survived hunger in quite unique ways.)
Qualifications:
I'm an experienced world traveller - no doubt!

SIGG ICE BLUE TREND 1.0L(33 OZ)

Description
Now that husband I are travelling with two little ones (3 months and 15 months) having hot and distilled water is essential for food preparation and hydration. This double-walled stainless steeled bottle holds just enough for an afternoon. Of course it can be used for our hiking trips in the mountains (soup, coffee, or just hot water) or when we're taking long drives.

Compeed Blisters (medium)

Description
These are a godsend. It never fails that with hours of pounding the pavement I always find myself with blisters at the end of the day, no matter if I've worn the proper footwear or not. These little gems stay in place not just for the day, but for days to help to heal the blister! Unlike regular adhesive bandages these little guys will not wash off in the shower!

GRAVOL

Description
The first time I took a vacation on a cruiseliner in Norway I was warned that I would probably be seasick. Well, I wasn't - but others weren't as lucky! We were hitting some pretty bad weather and our room was next to husband's grandmother that was vomitting like crazy. Luckily I had some gravol to offer her. I recommend the regular tablets which don't have flavouring (Who wants extra flavour to enchance your nausea?) and you can chew (How easy is it to swallow a pill when you want to throw up?). If you're the type of person that has a queazy stomach, you might want to carry a few of these along in your bag. Even if you're taking a short ferry trip or tend to suffer from motion sickness from a quick car ride, these little tablets really do the trick!

Pepto-Bismol Cherry Chewable Tablet

Description
It never fails that each time I take a long flight, I get the dreaded "flight stomach" which pretty much equals hunger, gas, and loud noises from the left side of my stomach. Luckily I don't suffer from diarrhrea, but I definitely suffer from indigestion due to the infrequent and off-routine eating. These little guys quickly help against heartburn, indigestion, diarrhea, upset stomach, and nausea. And unlike the good ol' peppermint-like flavour, these are cherry-flavoured and aren't too difficult to swallow.

Chronicle Books - Wanderlust Travel Journal

Description
There are so many formats one can use to jot down a moment's thought, but I find that not only chronicalling your thoughts, ideas, and memories of your travels in a specific journal can keep you organized, but it doubles as an incredible keepsake after you've come back home. This journal has great photos throughout and is filled with spot art and icons. The journal also includes space to record names and addresses, international dialing codes, and even a world map. This book is perfect for the sentimental traveller. Personally I always carry some kind of book or notebook with me and write down my thoughts in any space possible! This book is the perfect size for carrying around and leaves enough space for writing everything you could possibly want.

List that features this:
Assume Crash Positions Passport Holder
First to recommend
Description
I'm not just a person who loves flipping through my filled passport to look at the stamps, but I'm also a person that collects and cherishes stubs from every flight that I've taken. This handmade case is thin, has textured vinyl lining, and features extra pockets to hold other ID and money. (I would stash my extra flight stubs inside!)

Prague - DK Publishing

Description
There is a reason that DK Publishing (Eyewitness Travel) travel guides are the world's best! My husband and I have been avid visitors of Prague since 2004 and still wouldn't go without taking at least one travel guide despite our second-home familiarity with the city. This guide is current, gives straightforward information, and has the most gorgeous and detailed maps of the city. It also includes walking tour plans, suggestions for 4 days in Prague, and detailed and updated illustrations of landmarks and other places to visit. I would recommend this guide to anyone that has never visited this gorgeous and historic city. Infact, I would have to recommend all guides by DK because they are an outstanding investment! (I own several!)
