Nokia N75

First to recommend

Description

The N75 is a sexy little clamshell that was released today on AT&T's network. I'm not normally a big fan of flip phones, but Nokia does it right. The N75, is part of Nokia's smartphone series and runs on the Symbian OS (probably making it Good Compatible for all you email lovers). It's also filled with messaging and multimedia software for all your music/im fans.

Feature rundown:

- quad band GSM
- 3G broadband network
- 2MP Camera
- Stereo Speakers
- Bluetooth
- Dedicated Music Controls on the outside

If you're a flip phone fan boy/girl, this one's definitely a winner.

The AK-47 Walkie Talkie phone

First to recommend

Description

Laugh all you want, this is a bad ass phone for one reason: a battery that gives you a month of standby time and between 30-50 hours of talk time.

Seriously folks, with a battery life that long, I'd rock the damn thing, regardless of how big and bulky it is. It does come with a svelte carry case, so you can strap the brick around your waist as you travel.

Granted this phone is only available in China (and thus the red star), but it's not a bad industrial device. It runs on GPRS/GSM, has an LCD flashlight, and a microSD card slot, just enough wiz-bang to keep it current without killing the battery.

Who am I kidding...who here would ever use a phone like this. :P

Valentine One radar and laser detectors

First to recommend

3 people recommended this item

Description

Are you a speed demon? Like driving fast? I do and that's why I recommend the Valentine 1 radar system. I don't know how many times this thing has saved my butt, but it has definitely given me a nice ROI.
The V1 has been there for me on my cross country drives, trips to San Francisco, and trips to Las Vegas

So why is the V1 so effective:

Two radars - Scans the front AND rear of the vehicle. You don't want to get tagged from the back.

Frequencies - Scans X, K, Ka, and Laser bands (2 band POP protection), making sure that it capture all the different bands that radar and laser uses.

Upgrades - You can upgrade your V1 for as little as 50 bucks as they come out with improvements. No need to buy a new detector.

Seriously, if you are speed demon like me, you need to protect yourself with either the V1 or the Passport 8500 X50, which is comparable

Seiko Electronic Ink Watch for Women

First to recommend

Description

Digital form and function at its best...for women. I wouldn't sport a bracelet, but I just might based on the technology that Seiko is using for this unique bracelet watch. The design won the 2006 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève prize for electronic watches. Utilizing E-Ink technology, the bracelet can reflect the mood of the wearer depending on the occasion.

Consider this a proof of concept and bet that this super thin e-ink display will start to show up in other products, precisely for its flexibility and quality.

When are the boys going to get a sexy watch like this! (via notcot)

Description

BLING! Got $10k to drop and not sure what to do with it? How about picking up one of these bad boys: A Motorola V3i in stainless steel Gold encrusted with 855 diamonds.

Don't mind the fact that the phone runs only on GPRS, you're now blingin'! This phone comes from Peter Aloison, who has also performed his bling magic on the Samsung D900, Motorola KRZR. Check out the rest of his monstrosities here: http://amosu.myshopify.com/collections/types?q=Peter+Aloisson

Best of all...it comes with a free mobile cover box, as it damn well should!

(I wonder if all that extra gold improves the reception...)

Intel’s Metro Notebook concept

First to recommend

Description

OK OK, so this is a concept notebook and not technically available, but isn't that kind of the point of "this next?" Intel's metro notebook sports a second display on the OUTSIDE of the laptop, using non volatile memory and e-ink to display calendar, email, and other neat things that you need access when you're walking around...with this hip laptop slung over your shoulder. That's right...slung over your shoulder.

This concept is designed primarily for women, but the specs make it a nice compact to carry around: sub-0.7in thick, 1kg. Heck, I would love to sport a laptop with those dimensions, without the shoulder strap of course. Then again, I don't see how ANYONE would feel comfortable carrying their notebook this way.

Nokia 8800 Sirocco - Gold Edition

First to recommend

Description

Can you say bling! This is a statement phone if I've ever seen one (right on par with the vertu). The 8800 Sirocco edition comes plated in 18k gold.

If a swiss watchmaker could build a cellphone, this would be it.

Some specs shall we:

Tri Band
2MP Camera
262k color screen protected by scratch resistant sapphire coated glass
Integrated Radio and MP3 player

It also comes with a matched bluetooth headset as well as a matching desk stand.

All this will only set you back 1000 Euros.

TOTALLY HAWT, TOTALLY SEXY, TOTALLY OUT OF MY LEAGUE!

Palm Treo 750 Smartphone

First to recommend

5 people recommended this item

Description

World Traveller? Like Palm? Like broadband speeds? Used to Windows? Better get yourself a Treo 750!

I was never a big fan of the antenna stubs on the previous Treos, so when I started my new job, I was glad to see that Palm had released the 680 and its big brother the 750 in a much cleaner form factor. So what's the skinny on this baby:

OS: Windows Mobile 5. Easy to pick up. Palm's done a great job of customizing the home page for easy use. A nice feature includes the ability to hold down the OK button to access the memory page (which is key for all WM5 devices, since programs never really "close," they just get minimized and you have to shut them down via the memory page)

Form Factor: Nice and comfortable for one handed operation. The keyboard for some reason feels slightly better than the 680, but for a blackberry user like me, it took a little while to adjust to.

Network: Runs on the 3G network (where available) for blazing fast downloads. True quad band including the 2100 band, which means that this phone will also work in Japan and S. Korea. This ALSO means simultaneous voice and data. You can be on the phone and sending/receiving text messages/email/internet while you are on the phone (available in those 3G areas ONLY!)

Other Goodies: Memory Card Slot (mini SD), Decent Camera, picture phone book, dedicated vibrate/silent button, dedicated reset button

The Bad: Battery Life. As with most WM5 phones, the battery life drains away pretty quickly. The addition of the 3G antenna in the phone means that the phone is constantly hunting for 3G antennas. I'm a heavy user and I'm generally down to my last bits of juice by the time 6p (10 hours of phone/email/internet). Then again, it's why we have car chargers and extra ac adapters.

Overall, I was very surprised and impressed with the Treo 750.

BlackBerry 8700c

11 people recommended this item

Description

In our industry, we call the 8700 the workhorse of the RIM lineup. Why? Let me count thy ways:

- Real phone. Have you tired using the old 7290? This was the first phone in RIM's lineup that had decent voice quality AND an excellent speakerphone.
- Durability. I can't tell you how many times I've dropped mine. The hardshell can take a real beating. At my buddy's company, they use 8700's as hockey pucks in the office, and they still work afterwards.
- User Interface. Is there a keyboard that's easier to use? Great layout, solid tactile typing, and a beautiful screen made the 8700 standout amongst its competitors.
- Battery life. This is where RIM really standouts, regardless of the model. They spend a lot of time optimizing the battery life for all of their devices. I've had the 8700 on for 3-4 days before charging, and that is with full usage (email, voice, internet, bluetooth).

With all the devices that I carry around, I always keep my 8700 in my bag as a backup in case any of the other devices decide to flip out on me.

Needless to say, this baby will be in the portfolio for a while, even with all the newer Blackberries that are being released this quarter.

For those who are still holding back, expect the price point to drop Q2/Q3 as the new bb's come out. Heck, it's $99.99 for my clients ;) I'm jealous because I bought mine back in the day for $399.99.
