A New Proposal, by Pernilla Jansson
First to recommend
Description
Rethinking neon lighting in a more fluid form, "A New Proposal" was part of Pernilla Jansson's MFA project at University of Arts and Crafts, Stockholm. An expression of the designer's goal to "create new visual constellations in a unique context," the piece will be appearing this week at Milan Design Week.

Turn Off the Light, by Jenny Bergström
First to recommend
Description
Appearing at Milan Design Week 2008, Turn Off the Light is a heat-sensitive lamp application that melts from exposure to the heat of the lamp. Simple enough, the design bluntly illustrates the impact of energy expenditure.

the beautiful game

Description
This is a far cry from the beer-splattered foosball table on which we waged epic battles in my college days. This delicious design takes a game and turns it into an art form. Absolutely stunning.

Dot Table Lamp
First to recommend
Description
The Dot Table Lamp from wis design presents a smart, understated desk lamp with a fashionable touch. An exaggerated pearl necklace, made with tactile rubber, falls and clumps onto the base. The piece is just a concept, developed for Lampister, so keep your fingers crossed.

Paul Smith Ping-Pong Table, by Hunn Wai
First to recommend
Description
Before you get too excited, this is neither a ping-pong table commissioned by Paul Smith (yet) nor a piece produced in an edition greater than one. But it is a really cool DIY project from a designer with great references. He essentially took a common wing-tip design appearing on Paul Smith shoes and applied it to a secondhand ping-pong table. Remarkable repurposing! (via playmedesign)

Wall-Mounted Umbrella Holder by Carlo Contin
First to recommend
Description
Aside from the unavoidable mess you'd make every time you place your umbrella in this stand, this understated piece economically offers everything you need in a local that makes an umbrella a constant accessory. It's just a concept, but one can hope.
