Mechanical Eyelash Curler

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

This eyelash curler is DEFINITELY a WINNER!! It really curls my lashes nicely with nice soft silicone pads inside the curling mechanism - I've been using it every day and it's really making a difference in my straight lashes. I never though a $1 eyelash curler would become my "Must Have" curler, but it really does work!! So happy! (via drugstore)

Dream Matte Mousse Foundation

First to recommend

4 people recommended this item

Description

I was very excited to try this product after seeing the ads and commercials for the last few weeks. The models they use in many of the ads are Brazilian/Multi-ethnic and African-American, so I knew that the color range would at least cover most of the bases for women of color. I normally do not buy drugstore brand foundations (I'm a Mac and Sue Devitt fan), but I was willing to try it.

The first thing that I noticed was that the top of the foundation jar is a slightly darker color than what is actually inside. Therefore, the Cocoa, which I chose, looks much darker based on the cap, but is about 2 shades lighter when you open and see the product. The feel of it is dreamy! So light and airy- just like a mousse! It dries down instantly to a fine powder on the skin. It also seems to have "adjusting" color pigments in it, which create a flawless look. The coverage is light to medium, depending on how much product you use. The first few times I applied with my fingertips but I also tried applying with a sponge with also great results. Olay Body Thermal Pedicure Foot Treatment, 4.9 fl oz

First to recommend

Description

At the end of every winter my feet are always in the same state – definitely not sandal wearing ready. I was eager to try an at home treatment and have always had very good luck with Olay.

The scrub heats up quickly (feels nice!) and gives a has a nice grit to it without feeling painful. I concentrated it on my heels and the pads of my feet. I used it during every morning shower for a week straight to begin. I have to say I was very impressed with the texture and softness of my feet.

They also looked A LOT better. After the first week I switched to 3 x week and by the end of the second week my feet were, in fact, SANDAL READY. It’s a quicker and less intense pampered feeling than getting a pedicure in a salon, but this is an excellent alternative if you are low on time/money or just want to maintain your salon results in-between pedicures. Earth & Water Mascara Duo

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

The best feature of this product is the double ended regular/waterproof formulas which is genius! This way if you see a waterproof need coming up, you can switch immediately without looking for another formulation. I really liked this mascara. It is glossy and smooth, and I love how it's a pure black. I ended up with thick, long, glossy lashes after two coats. I didn't experience any flaking with either formula, and there was very little clumping. It's a really nice size and light enough to fit almost anywhere - And it's only a dollar, so you can stash one at work, home, etc! (via Palacinka)

Pop Beauty Glitter Stix Navy

First to recommend

Description

This was my first time using Pop and also my first time using an eyeliner that wasn't black! I was really pleased with the results. This navy color is a true dark blue navy with fine sliver sparkle. The sparkle didn't drift on other parts of my face which was good. This glitter stix was a great way to change my night time look without looking to over the top. In addition, the eyeliner had a nice "slip" gliding over my eyelid and good staying power on me. The color really brought out my eyes! I think this will be a new addiction.... (via Palacinka)

Noxzema - Get the Glow

First to recommend

Description

I loved the Continuous Clean Citrus Scrub, but the operative word is clean - in that it is a really good cleanser, but if you are looking for a really grainy scrub this is not it. I love the smell- a real bust of orange/tangerine fragrance that was great first things in the morning and after the gym, and it does a good job cleansing. It's not overdrying, and my face feels very clean. This didn't cause any kind of breakout or clogged pores either. This is perfect for those of you who have more delicate, sensitve skin and want a very mild scrub. The soft tube packaging is great for the shower as well. (via Noxzema)

Thermasilk Shine & Shape Gel, Smoothing- Palacinka honest opinions on hair care products for women of color! (TM)

First to recommend

Description

This is probably one of the best gels I have ever used. It smells great (I love the smell of Thermasilk), has great ingredients (no alcohols OR silicones -- yay!), doesn't leave that sticky/crunchy gel feeling to my hair, and it protects the hair from heat styling. I just love this! It leaves my hair very soft and frizz-free! I used it in wet hair before blow drying and flat ironing (when I wanted a straighter look) or air dried (a curlier look). With both methods my hair looked great, was really shiny and I never had to worry about frizz. The price is also right - this a must have hair product forme now! (via palacinka.com)

L'Oreal Hip High Intensity Pigments Concentrated Shadow Duo, Saucy 818

2 people recommended this item

Description

One side appears to be a dull brown in the pan, but is actually a great, smudgy, smoggy, olive-brown color--there's definitely a greenish cast to it on me. It's very pigmented and works well as a liner (both wet or dry), as a crease color, and even all over the lid (well-blended, natch) for a sexy, smoky eye. The gold shadow is a shimmery (but not sparkly), yellowy-gold with the slightest of touch of olive in it. The texture of both sides is great. I loved to wear this duo is with the gold brushed all over the lid and the brown as a liner (wet) on the top lashline (or dry over a dark brown eyeliner), smoked out in the crease/outer 'V' and blended into the gold. Hint: If you brush the brown over the gold, you get a great olive color (via Palacinka)

NYX Doll Eye Mascara- Long Lash

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

I absolutely LOVE this mascara. For a girl like me with sparse lashes, it doesn’t get any better than this! Only 8 dollars for all this: a formula that separated, yet thickened my lashes with just 2 complete coats. This mascara made my eyelashes longer than any other mascara I've ever tried – an especially none under $10 dollars.

I would HIGHLY recommend this if you like dramatic lashes. It’s also the perfect mascara for going out for a night on the town!

I'm not sure if it's the brush and/or the formula, but the lengthening power of this mascara is very dramatic just like I wanted. What more could a girl ask for? (via Palacinka)
