The great cupcake craze of 2005 caused by Magnolia Bakery may have taken the rest of the country unawares, but I've always been a HUGE fan of those portable, delicious little cakes. (Ever since I had my first Hostess around age 5.) And so now that cupcakes are becoming the norm, it only makes sense that Williams Sonoma has kicked it up a notch by coming out with the perfect thing for Valentine's Day. Heart shaped cupcake moulds. Gorgeous.

Okay, now I'm just dreaming. You don't really need a stand mixer to make cupcakes, in fact I make them by hand all the time. But if you can afford it and you have the space, they're probably the greatest thing ever invented.

No trip to Beverly Hills is complete without a stop at the first, the best, trendy cupcake store. Sprinkles opened a couple years ago and has had lines around the block ever since. It's well worth the wait! The cupcakes are delicious, the flavors are always changing, and they even have mini cakes for your dogs. Crumbs is down the street, but I just don't see them beating dear Sprinkles in the Cupcake War of Beverly Hills.
