About this list:

Reading is a big deal, but I believe that if kids aren't interested in the book, then they won't care for reading. So I've compiled a list of my favorite children's books to help your young reader catch the reading bug.

This is actually a song, and if you can get the motions all down, kids LOVE doing acting this out!

Love You Forever, Robert Munsch

First to recommend

Description

My mom used to read this to me at least once a week when I was a kid and I loved it. It reassures kids that you will love them forever, no matter what. And THAT, folks, is the key to learning and growing. Because only after a child feels loved and accepted can he open his mind to learn other, more academic things.

Clifford the Firehouse Dog, Norman Bridwell

First to recommend

Description

Clifford is the big red dog that's been around for years, but is still popular with the little ones. He means well, but his big stature gets in the way sometimes...

Biscuit Takes a Walk, Alyssa Satin Capucilli

First to recommend

Description

I personally find the Biscuit books insanely boring, but my kids love them. They're repetitive in nature, and most kids really like dogs (or animals in general), so this book is perfect for them.

Amelia Bedelia Helps Out, Peggy Parish

Description

Amelia Bedelia is an oldie but a goody! Her literal take on things is also a great way to explain figurative language.
