"For~Play": Party Props & Essential Event Decor - a list by tatorandtots

Options for This Page

About this list:

Don't make the mistake of rushing through 1st, 2nd and 3rd base on your Party Prep To Do List. You may get lucky and still score but no one will go home as satisfied as if you'd put a little time and creativity into it. Throwing a spectacular soiree- whether for 2 or 200- is a lot easier and more cost-effective than you might imagine. Really, it's not hard. (...she writes, giving herself little kisses for sneaking in a naughty pun.....) ~~ ~~ ~~Ready? Let's go.

Qualifications:

I've shamelessly done every type of event to come my way.

Description

Wow. Cool. Wow.
__________________
You can draw attention to an event or promotion with cloudlike creations from Flogos, a new division of Snowmasters. Helium-injected biodegradable soap foam forced through a stencil by a generator results in high-flying designs that float thousands of feet into the sky—roughly one design every 15 seconds. Standard shapes (stars, triangles, circles) start at about $2,500 for eight hours. Custom designs are an additional $500. —Mark Mavrigian of BizBash

Flogos are designed to last for as long as their visual impact is needed. Specific formulations are available to provide a life expectancy of a few minutes to an hour or so. This also greatly depends on amospheric conditions such as wind direction and speed.

They can travel 20-30 miles and go as high as 20,000 thousand feet. They travel slow so they are very visible for a long time.

Rockstar Dogs

Description

**Note: Even if you don't visit the restaurant, check out their online menu for ideas to use at your own BBQ this summer!

If you're a Chicagoan like myself who gets a late night wiener craving from time to time, you might want to make a booty cuisine call to Rockstar Dogs. Wear your sassy heels cuz they have a stripper pole.

I am tempted to say so many naughty things in this review I almost have to sit on my hands. With menu items like the extra-long wiener titled "The Tommy Lee" you can imagine how hard it is for me to refrain.
(tossed in a pun right there in case ya missed it. No, not wiener. Keep going. That's right.... a little more.... ahhhh. There it is. "Hard.")

So instead of my smut, let me tell you what Jenny Berg of BizBash had to say about this place:
_________________
Dion Antic, owner of nightspots including Iggy's 3, opened Rockstar Dogs in March. Located in Ukrainian Village, the cheeky hot-dog stand (complete with an in-store stripper pole) offers a menu that pays tribute to musicians. New this summer, Rockstar Dogs offers catering for events and meetings for as many as 1,000 guests.

Selections include the Latin-style Los Lobos dog, which is wrapped with bacon and topped with sliced jalapeños; there's also the charbroiled, cheesy J. Timberlake dog and the onion- and Düsseldorf-mustard-smothered White Stripe brat. The hot dogs come with Miss Vicki's potato chips, and are delivered in an earth-friendly, electric pick-up truck. —Jenny Berg

Clear Plastic Palette Tray

First to recommend

Description

Just as properties depend on "location, location, location" so does the real estate occupied by cuisine on your party's buffett table or server's platters require consideration. Only your goal should be "presentation, presentation, presentation." A little something different can go miles in its effect.

A palette offers tremendous flexibility in terms of what it can offer- champagne flutes, gourmet ice cream cones, hors d'oeuvres in plastic containers or paper cones.... so much more. Have some fun with it.

Plastic Stands for Flutes

Description

I just love these for a variety of applications. Grab some clear cones (sold separately) and let your creativity run wild with colorful, crazy or simply elegant hors d'oeuvres.

Would be GREAT for a beer tasting event.
Check out all the various versions- starting with single holders and going up, up, up- on the JP Prince site. I included a picture of some others and of the clear cone inserts here.

Disposable/Re-usable Appetizer/Dessert Glasses

First to recommend

Description

I just love Tast's line of servingware. Like the rest, these have a wide variety of applications at your large event or small gathering. Little touches like this really pack a powerful punch in impacting how your guests experience the night.

Think of the visual created when you serve chilled tomato soup in these at a Sunday brunch or baby shower. Even better, place them on an acrylic tray underlit with Floralytes (or even XMas tree lights) on a night-time buffet table. Great ambience.

People really crave "different." So give them what they want without busting your budget to do so.
