Description
LocoRoco comes to the PS3!
If you've reached your fill of gore while blasting mutants in Resistance, Fall of Man or defending Western Europe in Call of Duty 3, switch to LocoRoco™ Cocoreccho and go to your happy place.
I got pretty addicted to it last weekend, trying to work my way into the top 100 "speed challenge" users.

Sony Bravia Rear Projection HDTV

Description
I recently had the pleasure of watching some 720p content on the previous version of this TV (the KDS-55A2020). It was stunning.
As with all rear-projection TVs, there is some image degradation when viewing the screen from a point higher than the screen itself. But everything else about this TV blows my current plasma display out of the water: size, weight, resolution, burn-in, tonal accuracy, inputs, quietness. (via Baird)

I'm still reading this book. So far it's an excellent, well-written, accessible introduction to cosmology and information theory. Thought-provoking and informative.

The Best of the Smiths, Vol. 1

Description
At the risk of being uncovered as an only-buys-the-best-of-album-poser, I admit that I bought this CD a few years ago and I haven't been disappointed one bit. It has all the songs I remember from high school and a couple awesome tracks I was not angsty enough to know about at the time.
ps. How did they get Jude Law to pose for the cover? (via spam_musubi)

The premise is that a 16-year-old boy with a terminal disease wishes for a weekend with a supermodel. Have I set your expectations low enough? Enjoy the film.

I read a quote from Greg Egan's "Glory", which made me think it was the kind of Sci-Fi I would enjoy reading. (via John Baez)

Rescue Dawn

Description
This is the best Vietnam-era movie I've seen in a long time. It's not a "war movie" like Platoon. It's more about one person's experience during the war.
Beautiful cinematography, convincing special effects (or are those actual newsreels?) and the engaging (true, declassified) story of Dieter Dengler's experience on the ground make this worth seeing in the theater.

We Are the Night - Chemical Brothers

Description
I picked this up at Starbucks and paid $17. You should buy it at Amazon, where it'll cost ya just nine.
My spendthriftiness aside, this album might in fact be worth seventeen. It's a little mystical; it's got a trace of break beats; and it's got those random lyrics. I think any Chemical Brothers fan will be happy.
I'm looking forward to cranking it with the windows and sunroof open while driving through the Santa Monica Mountains at night.
