Gus Design Group Jasper Cube Ottoman

First to recommend

Description

The Gus Design Group has created an ottoman that completely satisfies my felt fetish needs: the Jasper Cube Ottoman. There is something about really good felt that just does it for me. I love the durability of the material, the clean lines the fabric creates, and the way it can easily go from informal to formal without having to try too hard. If only people had it that easy! Jonas Damon Numbers Clock in Blue

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

Jonas Damon has the aesthetics of time down to a tee with his Numbers Clocks. How often do you see a clock broken down into its four main components, the numbers? Not often enough, I do believe! The simplicity is refreshing, the colors are bold (new blue and amber colorways) and the interactive design is just brilliant. (via design public)

Description

Hold on to your hats...the new Singgih Kartono Magno Wooden Radios have been known to knock people’s socks off. From the time of the transistor radio to the modern day mp3 player, Singgih Kartono has masterfully combined the old with the new into something of pure genius. (via Design Public)

Tobias Wong Light Switch - Gold (Limited Edition)

First to recommend

Description

Tobias Wong, what would modernists do without you? Consider this situation: you are nestled in bed after reading Harry Potter for 8 hours and your eyes start to get heavy. It is a good 70+ degrees in bed but a balmy -20 outside the covers. You would love to drift off, but you don’t have a bedside lamp so you have to get up to turn the lights off. Brrrrr, one of the worst moments in your life. Your home and your dignity are too modern for a Clapper, but a chrome or gold light switch encased in a lucite box would solve the problem in no time. Plus, you feel all James Bond-chic while turning your light off. So smart, Tobias Wong, so smart. (via design public)

Emeco Nine-0 Swivel Armchair

First to recommend

Description

Emeco’s “Nine-0” chairs are a classic reborn by a classic designer. There is something to be said for having a chair in your home that was originally built for WWII submarines but recently redesigned with a contemporary flair. There is also something to be said for a chair with such history to be the last design of a distinguished designer prior to his passing. If you are curious to learn more about the life and times of Italian designer Ettore Sottsass, I’d highly suggest taking a peek at the video by Emeco Cinema. (via Design Public)

Reform Frog Table

First to recommend

Description

I would love to be a fly on the wall while the designers from Reform produce their pieces from start to finish, especially with unique designs like the Frog Table. 1.) The design for this table is unbelievable. It is a sleek and stylish coffee or end table compete with a storage space for books or magazines (aka awesome form and function). 2.) It can be used inside or out. So versatile! 3.) The table is fabricated from a single sheet of aluminum, with no hardware or adhesives whatsoever (mind boggling!). 4.) The material is 100% recyclable. I think there must be some smart water floating around in Portland because these guys are geniuses. (via Design Public)

MASH Studios LAX Bookcase

First to recommend

Description

Another item to add to your MASH Studios crush/lineup: the LAX Bookcase. Without question, a good bookcase is a timeless component to any modern apartment. Designs like the LAX Bookcase are the essence of this classic notion: no fussy ornamentation, no visible hardware, just a clean and simple way to display your coveted books and treasures. Heck, we have three massive bookcases in our DP offices and I wouldn’t be surprised if we wanted to add more! (via Design Public)

Thomas Paul Lighting Medium Drum Pendant Lamp

First to recommend

3 people recommended this item

Description

Thomas Paul has such a knack for color with regards to everything…pillows, rugs and now lighting! When I first saw his pillows I had over a handful of favorites to don my sofa. Then I saw his rugs and imagined covering all of my floor space with pieces. If that was the case no hardwood would be seen! Now I imagine moving upwards and illuminating my ceilings and tables with his lighting collection. From my top ten list of lighting favorites I think one of my chief picks is the Louis II Floor Lamp, or maybe I might prefer the Gus Table Lamp, actually the Wide Drum Pendant is awesome, and then of course I can’t leave out the Ting Table Lamp. Ok, so again I can’t make up my mind. (via Design Public)

Rudie Raccoon

2 people recommended this item

Description

It was hard to decide which Donna Wilson Creature to feature. There was a close tie between Edd Red Head, (the most bombastic red headed toy ever seen), and Rill, a fire colored fox with eyes like a bandit. But my true favorite of the bunch is Rudi Raccoon (pictured far right in photo). His awkward little body and white eyes would make the perfect office friend, play companion, or gift. Those who may not see love at first sight, try recalling Michel Gondry’s recent film “Science of Sleep”, where handmade creatures and playful art form character’s dreams and realities. Donna Wilson creates caricatures of animals and indescribable species each stuffed with personality by the hand of the artist. Still, It’s as if she put a pile of colored socks in a blender and the creatures came out on their own accord, forming a different sect of society. Donna Wilson’s Rudi Raccoon and other friends can be found right here at Design Public! (via Design Public)
