BLiS Bourbon Barrel Aged Maple Syrup
First to recommend
Description
Everyone knows that aging anything in wood barrels makes it better. Usually. Certainly for this case. Aged maple syrup adds an intense deep flavor to whatever breakfast item you may be gracing it with. Pricey, I know, but you gotta pay to play.

Dots Cupcakes

Description
The cupcake boutique trend has been in full swing for a few years now but before recently, it meant driving to Beverly Hills for Sprinkles, at least for Angelians. I recently found about about Dots which makes incredibly moist (perhaps a bit too much) cupcakes. Their flavor combinations are inventive and delicious. My favorite part about them is they are much more manageable being located in Pasadena and they have a cool mini-sampler box you can get for $15 to share with friends and coworkers.

June Taylor Organic Preserves

Description
There's nothing like weekend breakfast or brunch after a hard week at work. June Taylor organic preserves from Northern California are just the answer to spread on top of pancakes or buttered toast. Shipping is reasonable and the flavor combinations are very unique - Meyer Lemon and Rosemary anyone?

DRY Soda

Description
I've always loved soda but as I get older, I am more discriminating. It's taken me over a year to finish a Costco pack of Pepsi and while I love it over Coke, I find myself gravitating towards artisinal products more. Dry Soda is the perfect grown up soda.

Transglutaminase Activa RM (Meat Glue)

Description
Unless you have a Dow account and a bulk need for lots of meat glue, this place is the best to get it. You can get it in manageable (but still large) quantities. The newest darling child in the world of molecular gastronomy, Transglutaminase or "meat glue" binds proteins together for mind boggling treats. Imagine chicken cordon bleu or bacon wrapped scallops without the need for toothpicks.

Naga Exotic Candy Bar

Description
The last time I was in Vegas (Nov 07), I made it a point to stop by the Vosges store in the Forum Shops at Caesar. The sales girl was so friendly and we got to try nearly every product. I walked away with a small bag including this Naga chocolate bar. Sweet indian curry, coconut milk, and toasted milk combine for a tour de flavor on your tastebuds. This is what I call living!

Here's what I had to say about this beauty on joshspear.com:
I’ve waited over two years for designer Joey Roth to bring his 3D design off the computer monitor and into a tangible product. A product that brings together my admiration for good design and my obsession with tea is a surefire winner.

Iberico de Bellota Shoulder (Paleta) from Spain
First to recommend
Description
If you've ever watched the Anthony Bourdain special titled "Decoding Ferran Adria," you remember that at the beginning of the episode, before even even enters Adria's lab in Barcelona, Bourdain makes a stop at a ham shop in town. There, he has Jamon Iberico, the world's most prized ham. This particular cut takes it a step further, using only blackfooted pigs that dine on acorns and roam freely. The ham is expertly selected and cured and the prized shoulder pieces are thinly sliced for consumption. I recently found a store locally that had some and I picked some up at lunch. If you aren't as lucky, definitely order from La Tienda, who are probably the premier Spanish import company.
For the incredible background story (years of working with both governments to clear regulations), spend a few minutes on Google.

Yoshikane Vegetable Knife - Nakiri

Description
Yoshikane has been getting lots of love around the knife forums and for good reason. This 6.5" Nikiri, or vegtable knife, is perfect for most of your cooking needs. I use my Nikiri for all vegetable prep work and a Satoku for everythign else. I rarely use my paring and almost never the petty. The hammered finish is beautiful and the HRC 64 rating means a tough steel that can hold a fine edge.

Tower Shot Glass

Description
If you've done any fine dining, read food blogs, or visited "hip" bars, you surely would have seen these. I like to use it for "mini" margaritas or gin and tonics. The idea is you can serve someone just a small drink as a pre-drink appetizer or a palette cleanser between courses. They hold more than the traditional 1.5 oz shots (probably double). You can also gift them for the lushes in your life to down their Jack.
