SIRIUS Satellite Radio - The Underground Garage - The Best in Garage Rock, Steven Van Zandt and More!
First to recommend
Description
What other station can I hear the Faces, then Hanoi Rocks, then the Rolling Stones, then the Paybacks and then Jeff Beck Awesome! What other station can boast they have Handsome Dick Manitoba (oh, fogettaboutit), Andrew Loog Oldham and Kim Fowley as DJ's? The Underground Garage was my whole reason for getting Sirius Satellite Radio two years ago and it has been one of my best purchases. This station just gets better and better. I originally used to listen to the syndicated version all hosted by Little Steven on regular radio when I could catch it (which was usually not very often as it was on late Sunday nights). I cannot live without this station! Everyone should get Sirius just so they can listen to this amazing station!

The Chelsea Smiles - Thirty Six Hours Later

Description
This is raw garage punk at its best. These guys are one of my favorite current bands. This CD is excellent from start to finish (a few of my favorite tracks are Nothing Wrong and Pillbox). Even more amazing than the CD is the live show these guys put on. I've seen them at my fav. small dive bar in San Francisco (Thee Parkside) to them opening up at the Fillmore for Social Distortion. They rock the house no matter how large or small the venue or crowd. As if that wern't enough, they are hell of nice guys! Check out this fantastic CD and make sure to check these guys out if they come to your town! They won't disappoint on either front!

I've been really in an Izzy mood lately. He is one of my favorite guitar players of all time. 117 Degrees has been spending a lot of time in my CD player lately, as well as Izzy's first solo project after leaving Guns and Roses, Izzy Stradlin' and the JuJu Hounds. This CD is very underrated, IMO. If you love that Exile on Main Street sound, you can't help but love Izzy's solo stuff (for those of you who are fans, this is no new news). One reason I think Izzy is so damn cool is he is really not so much concerned about his image as he is about his music. As much as I'm a tech junkie, I just think it is so hard core and cool that Izzy has no web site. So if you want to know what type of toothpaste the man uses, if he's on line right now, what mood he is in and how many on line friends he has, etc. you are out of luck. Yes folks, that's right. You have to find out about Mr. Stradlin' the old fashion way. Listen to his music and let the music do the talking (in the words of the fantabulous Mr. Joe Perry).

The Forty-Fives - Fight Dirty

Description
Garage, power punk, high energy music is how I can best describe this CD by Atlanta's fantastic Forty-Fives. If you had to put the Forty-Fives in a genre it would be "garage" but they are so much more than that (and I LOVE "garage" music). They are absolute non-stop, high energy, good time, dance music. I really want to see these guys live! I can only imagine how awesome they are! My Kind of Girl is my fav. track on the CD

The Birds - Collectors' Guide to Rare British Birds
First to recommend
Description
I am very excited for this CD to come out. Let's first be clear, these are the cool Birds, not the folkie snoozefest Byrds (at least IMO). If you don't know who these Birds were (well, technically they were lads, not birds...hahahaha). The Birds were a mid 60's British R&B band featuring a young Ronnie Wood. This compilation even feature's Woody's first recording. If you are a fan of Woody, good British 60's music, or even garage rock in general this is a must have!

I was a huge fan of DGeneration, the band that Jesse Malin fronted in the 90's (part glam, part punk, all cool). He's turned into an amazing singer songwriter (not as heavy stuff as DGeneration here, but cool nonetheless). This CD is getting a lot of time in my CD player these days. My fav. track right now is In the Modern World (it was also a past "Coolest Song of the Week" a few weeks ago on my fav. radio station, the Underground Garage on Sirius). I really like this song, because to me it is mocking all those hipsters who take themselves way too seriously. Jesse's buddy Ryan Adams guests on this CD.

The Shazam - Godspeed the Shazam

Description
You cannot help but love the Shazam. The sound like Cheap Trick meets early Who. Great rock with amazing melody. I first heard about them on the Underground Garage (Little Steven's station on Sirius Satellite Radio). My fav. song on this CD is R U Receiving.

Keef and Ronnie toured around 1979 as the New Barbarians. I'm sorry I was too young to check it out at the time. They are at the drunken bluesy sexy best. The do some Stones tunes, some of Ronnie's solo stuff as well as Keef's. Best listened to with a shot of whiskey! Cheers!

The Paybacks - Harder and Harder

Description
If you want straight ahead whiskey soaked hard rock than you definitely need to check out the Motor City's own Paybacks! Wendy Case has a strong whiskey soaked sounding voice! These guys are just jawbreaking straight ahead rock. My only regret is I have yet to see them live (I hear they are amazing)!
