Designer Strainer

First to recommend

Description

I'm a sucker for design. Even with my tea. This tea strainer from Herb + Ginger is awfully cool in its slanted stainless steel. You scoop up your loose tea with it, slide it closed and steep yourself a cup. (via herbandginger.com)

q-Tea Infuser (color: aqua)

Description

Another snappy tea infuser. Much better than a lame, messy 'ol tea ball any day. Although, I think I prefer the aqua color to the sunshine. Go figure! (via herbandginger.com)

Tetsubin Tea Set

First to recommend

Description

Tetsubin, the famous cast-iron teapot of Japan, has long been valued as the perfect tea brewing vessel with its roots dating back to the 17th century. Not only does it heat evenly and retain heat well, but it is thought to enhance the flavor of tea and can last forever with the proper care. Our Tetsubin Tea Set is hand-cast by Japanese artisans using specially purified iron and traditional casting methods. The 6-piece set consists of a teapot, trivet and four matching cups, all decorated with delicate bamboo canes, evergreen trees and cherry blossoms. The teapot holds about 16 fluid ounces and includes a stainless steel "infusing basket" for brewing of loose tea. Cups and teapot are lined with a durable black enamel to prevent rust. Tenmoku Tea Set - Slate

First to recommend

Description

Relax and be transported away to your own Asian Tea Ceremony with our Tenmoku Tea Set. Handmade in Malaysia by a prominent Chinese artist, our nature inspired tea set is a piece of his well known Tenmoku Pottery Collection. This elegant eight piece tea set includes a square teapot with a bamboo handle, six matching mini tea cups and a tea canister. Hand glazed a rustic slate with warm and earthy accents the tea pot holds approximately 5 fluid ounces. The unique pattern on our tea set is created by pressing real leaves and twigs into the surface prior to firing. The leaves turn to ash, their impression emerges, and a black glaze is applied to the interior making it water tight. To the people of Asia, drinking tea is a form of unifying the body and mind, and bringing one's self into harmony with nature. Continue your journey with our Tenmoku Tea Set, and experience an ambience of tranquility, serenity and peace. (via antiki.com)

Stash Everest First Flush Nepalese Black Tea

First to recommend

Description

I enjoy my black teas with lemon and a hint of sweetener. This is one of Stash's finest.

"Encompassing snowcapped peaks to lush plains, Nepal has every climate zone found in the world. It is a country of diverse landscapes, peoples, cultures, and languages, nestled among the highest mountains in the world.

Only five years old, the Everest tea estate is located at 5000 feet in Nepal's central Himalayas. The estate cultivates tea bushes on 4000 acres of lush, virgin land. The tea bushes here are quite young -- 4 to 6 years old, and as such, produce tender leafs. Ideal growing conditions -- pure mountain air, the right combination of sun and shade, and abundant rain, help to produce an exquisite black tea, processed in the traditional Orthodox method.

The Everest Tea Estate supports the principals of Fair Trade and equal - opportunity employment. The tea estate also provides social services, health care and schools for the surrounding villages.

This easy to drink, delightful tea is golden in the cup and rich in flavor with a slightly sweet aftertaste." (via stashtea.com)

Stash English Breakfast

First to recommend

Description

This is my all-time favorite black tea. It has a bit of a kick and is perfect "Southern-style", with lemon and sugar.

"By the 1700s tea at breakfast was part of the English lifestyle, having replaced the customary practice of drinking ale with breakfast!

The prototype for English Breakfast was developed over a hundred years ago by the Scottish Tea Master Drysdale, in EdInburgh. It was marketed simply as "Breakfast Tea". It became popular in England due to the craze Queen Victoria created for all things Scottish (the summer home of Victoria and Albert was the Highland castle at Balmoral). Tea shops in London, however, changed the name and sold it as "English Breakfast Tea".

English Breakfast has become a favorite of tea drinkers worldwide and is the tea most often enjoyed during English High Tea. It is a blend of fine black teas, often including some Keemun tea. Many tea authorities suggest that the Keemun tea blended with milk creates a bouquet that reminds people of "toast hot from the oven" and may be the original source for the name.

Stash English Breakfast combines top quality black teas from premier tea gardens. We blend bright Ceylon tea from Sri Lanka, malty Assam and smooth Nilgiri teas from India and full bodied Keemun from China. The result is a very distinctive, strong, rich tea. It may be enjoyed with milk or lemon (but not in combination, the lemon would curdle the milk). It also makes an exceptional iced tea. This stimulating tea is the perfect morning wake-up drink." Stash Organic Ambootia Darjeeling Supreme Black Tea

First to recommend

Description

I have yet to try this one, but just based on the description below, I feel safe in recommending it. Plus, I love Darjeeling tea.

"Darjeeling is a small resort town situated in northwest Bengal, 400 miles due north of Calcutta in the small neck of Indian territory that separates Nepal and Bhutan. Its location at 6500 feet provides a temperate, if rainy climate, and breathtaking views that allow the eye to travel from the scorching plains below, upward over a succession of mountains that culminate with the mighty Kanchenjunga, almost as high as Everest.

Only to the western world is the name Darjeeling synonymous with superior tea. This is because Darjeeling's mere forty two thousand acres under tea cultivation account for less than three percent of all tea that India produces. Darjeeling's reputation for quality tea is so high that India sells almost all of it abroad. Tea estates in Darjeeling range from less than four thousand feet to almost ten thousand feet in elevation.

Darjeeling teas are considered the rarest and most prestigious of black teas. The taste of Darjeeling varies with the seasons. The first flush or springtime tea, is harvested from late February to mid-April. The young leaves yield a light tea with a flavor of green muscat.

Stash Tea is pleased to be working with the Ambootia™ Tea Estate, which has been producing superb Darjeeling teas since 1861. Ambootia™ has rich green hillsides reaching up toward the Himalayas, the highest mountain range in the world. The combination of climate and elevation creates a unique geographical phenomenon not replicated anywhere else in the world.

The Ambootia™ Estate is a balanced ecological system with natural forests, which help maintain the ecosytem and protect the fragile soils of its steep slopes. Much of the tea is shielded from any excessive sun by these trees which play an important role in providing natural organic nutrients to the soil as they fall and decompose.

Ambootia™ is certified as organic by the Institute of Market Ecology of Switzerland which is recognized around the world for its exacting standards and is also a member of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement).

Only safe, all-natural preparations are used to grow Ambootia™ tea. Ambootia™ uses Bio-Dynamic organic principles to make the best compost possible. Revitalizing preparations made from yarrow, valerian, chamomile, nettle, oak bark and dandelion are used in small homeopathic doses. These preparations are added to compost heaps for their positive effects. No artificial fertilizers are ever used at Ambootia™.

Our Organic Darjeeling Supreme black tea from the Ambootia™ Estate has an exquisite flowery bouquet. It brews up a sparkling amber color, is smooth and mellow with the distinctive muscat flavor that is characteristic of the worlds best Darjeelings." (via stashtea.com)

Stash Premium Organic Green Tea

First to recommend

Description

Everyone knows how good Green Tea is for you at this point. But did you know that there are so many out there that I could hardly pick one, just from Stash alone to recommend? Well, here is my pick. (For now...)

"In 1690 the Yamamoto family began producing premium teas in Japan. Today Yamamotoyama is the largest and one of the oldest family run tea companies in the world. In the early 1970s an executive of Yamamotoyama discovered an area perfect for tea production in central Brazil. This was a wonderful opportunity, as Japan had limited land to expand Yamamotoyama's tea production.

Brazil was also chosen for its season, which begins in September (which is opposite from that of Japan), its very rich and fertile soil, and perfect tea growing climate with fog and heavy dews. The best tea bushes and their seedlings were hand picked from Japan to produce the finest green teas possible.

The Yamamotoyama Brazilian tea gardens are in two highland areas in central Brazil near the Atlantic Ocean, at an elevation of 2,000 to 2,500 feet above sea level. One of the gardens is 150 miles southwest of Sao Paulo, the largest city in Brazil. This area covers 950 acres with 300 acres currently under tea cultivation. The second garden is 250 miles south of Sao Paulo, with 415 acres and 250 acres under tea cultivation. The two gardens combined employ over 200 people and are home to many more. The tea gardens have two types of Japanese tea plants. Over 2250 tons of fresh tea leaves are produced each year which is processed to exacting Japanese standards into 450 tons of finished green tea.

Our Organic Premium Green tea is expertly processed from beautifully handled leaves that are steam dried in the traditional Japanese style to preserve the flavor, fragrance, and color of the fresh leaf. The finished tea leaves are a vibrant green that brew into a bright golden-green liquor with a delicately herbaceous, slightly sweet and slightly nutty flavor." (via stashtea.com)
