END Footwear Stumptown 12 Trail Shoes (Men's) - Rock Creek Outfitters
First to recommend
Description
An eco-friendlier option than most traditional athletic shoes, END shoes offer awesome performance, light weight, and a bit lighter carbon footprint. The guys at END or "environmentally-neutral design" have been hard at work trying to reduce the impact of all the parts and pieces and glues and dyes used in traditional manufacturing of footwear. They've rethought the process and come at it in a different way. Sweet! I hope these guys do really well. (via END Footwear at Rock/Creek)

Mountainsmith Phoenix Backpack (Recycled) - Rock Creek Outfitters

Description
How cool is this? A recycled backpack! Mountainsmith has recently introduced a few different packs using recycled materials. To date this is the largest, and a great option for backpackers who want to keep the beautiful nature they love. (via Green products at Rock/Creek)

Far and away my favorite sandals ever. I have them on even this moment, as I type. APMA certified soles give you all the support you need, and they'll keep your feet cool during the summer, which is why I love them so much. (via Chacos at Rock/Creek)

Description
One of Time magazine's best inventions of 2007, the Vibram FiveFingers shoes give you the feeling of going barefoot with the protection of a Vibram sticky rubber sole. Great for creeking, sailing, kayaking, or anything else where you're in and out of the water and would really prefer to be barefoot, but you have to have the protection. Also see the Flow, KSO, and Classic models- all niched in for different activities. (via Vibram FiveFingers at Rock/Creek)

Description
Rock/Creek in Chattanooga, TN, just launched a new Trail Series, with 9 race dates and 13 distance options from five miles to 100k. The events are spread out throughout the year and start with the River Gorge race on March 29th. The StumpJump 50k is also a part of the series, taking place in October, and is a great race. Two of the races are also in Vasque's Trail Tour. Check it out. (via Trail Running articles page at Rock/Creek)

La Sportiva Raceblade Trail Running Shoe
First to recommend
Description
I haven't bought these yet, but I am a HUGE fan of the La Sportiva Fireblade. I ran R2R2R in the Grand Canyon (about 50 miles) with the Fireblades and definitely would reccomend them. I also have put quite a few miles on the Slingshot, which is more of a racing flat. This new Raceblade promises to be in the same vein as the Slingshot- definitely a good pick for an ultra or trail race where you plan to be in the front of the pack. Not a great pick for beginners, though. (via La Sportiva at Rock/Creek)

Arc'Teryx Quiver Pack
First to recommend
Description
I've admittedly never taken this into the backcountry, but I use it for a daypack and for my SLR camera. I've found that the camera, one other lens, a rain jacket, and a bit of food fit in there perfectly. There are two pockets, one on the outside that's the perfect size for film or your extra CF cards, and one large compartment for everything else. There's also room for a hydration bladder and a port for the hose. The 3-point design makes for quick access to your accessories without having to take the pack off. It's also waterproof and rather slick looking. (via Arc'Teryx at RockCreek)

Swarovski SLCnew 8 x 30 Binoculars

Description
If you're a bird watcher or hunter, these are the very best in binoculars, from the company that makes the crystal chandeliers. If you're willing to lay down the dough, you'll never have to buy another pair of Swarovski binoculars... unless, of course, your spouse gets ahold of them, in which case you'll never get them back and you'll have to buy another pair. But it won't have anything to do with the original pair wearing out! Of course, if your wife's not into the outdoors, and just dropped a load of cash on a Swarovski chandelier, what better excuse do you have for treating yourself to a bit of crystal as well?
