As a mom who tends to be a little picky -- okay, a lot picky -- I'm a fan of sharing my hard-earned finds with like-minded parents. This list pertains to those items I sought out and now use, happily, on a regular basis.

imogeneANDannie :: silver whale hoop earrings

2 people recommended this item

Description

Adorable whales to parade about town on your ears. It's probably my almost-four-year-old's fault that I currently have a sea-life fixation in my fashion angst, but I'll take a little credit for simply appreciating the lovely and whimsical, especially when it comes to imogeneANDannie. Accessories that regularly make me swoon from this etsy shop *que e gracinha de mais*.

Emily Sling Back by Frye

First to recommend

Description

The chevron pattern on this desperately gorgeous shoe reminds me of tiled mosaic halls in some warm, idyllic, drenched-in-history European locale. (I could be totally off-base on this, but -- hey. It's my imagination. I get to decide what goes on in there.)

As for the "desperately gorgeous," that's simply my way of saying they make me desperate for their gorgeousness. The colors play off of one another beautifully. The heel is all that's good in mod, in a pulled-from-seventies-glam kinda way. The height is perfect, and the platform is fab. The peep is just the right size (I object to too much toe-cleavage; it simply isn't flattering, most of the time). The brass buckle is divine.

Shoe love.

Alternative Apparel - Eco-Heather Long Pant

First to recommend

Description

Ever have a pair of pants so comfortable that, when you're pulling them from the dryer, you sneak in a little cuddle before folding them, regretfully, to be worn later? That you wear too many times before washing them *at all*, just because you so hate seeing them disappear into the laundry vortex for any length of time?

These are those pants. I think I've had the pair in my closet for at least a year, and not only are they going strong, with no visible wear, but they're MORE comfortable than when I first got them. AND. They're from Alternative Apparel's "alternative earth" line, so they're eco-feel-good, too.

The Office: Princess Unicorn Jr T-Shirt

First to recommend

Description

Her horn can pierce the sky. My love of the princess multiplied by my love of unicorns explodes in this gorgeous collision, created by the staggering genius amongst the writers for my favorite show ever, The Office.

I would look *so* cool in this t-shirt. All the four-year-olds at my son's school would be JEL-us. Sweeeet.

Kelly Kapoor: I Don't Talk Trash, I Talk SMACK. The T-Shirt

First to recommend

Description

I have a shameless ongoing love affair with television's most effervescent-yet-undersung comedienne, Mindy Kaling, aka Kelly Kapoor, from The Office (my current raison de etre). She's gorgeous and hilarious and completely interesting in a semi-innocent, offbeat way that keeps her audience continually guessing. A total scene-stealer, she's rarely on the show (given that she's one of the writers and probably keeps plenty busy with that portion of her job), but when she's there, she's awfully hard to miss. This t-shirt is one of my hands-down favorite garments ever.

Kelly Kapoor: She's kind of my Carrie Bradshaw.

The Office: Kelly Kapoor Star Mug

First to recommend

Description

Kelly, you minx. You forgot to invite ME to your America's-Got-Talent finale fest. *whimper* Which means there's no mug with my, uh, mug on it.

Nonetheless, this mug was meant to live in my mug cupboard. You see, Kelly Kapoor is kind of my hero. Minus the "kind of."

dkim :: Lady Hitchcock

First to recommend

Description

This is my favorite of all the dkim prints I own. The splash of red is so dramatic on the taupe background. If I could afford to, I would buy so. very. many of this artist's original works. She inspires a state of dreaminess, which is just exactly what I require of my art. (And she works in really cool mediums, like thread on paper, and other unusual, textural elements besides.)

The Office: Schrute Farms Beets T-Shirt

Description

Oh, The Office, how I love thee.

I would totally have married Dwight. I don't know what Angela's problem is. Seriously. (Oh. Sure. Go ahead and point out nonessential elements like plot and story-line and the like. And I will remind you that Angela and Dwight are beyond all of that.)

(They are. Well, if you subbed *me* in for Angela.)
