AeroGrow Indoor Countertop Garden

First to recommend

Description

Okay... So I love the idea of growing herbs in my kitchen, but it's kinda silly. You get enough for one meal at a time. So... Somebody needs to help me with my naive mind... Are people using these to grow pot, you think?

Why are they so popular?

Honestly, I want one to grow herbs for cooking.... But I've always been told I do things differently than others. What does that mean when it comes to this product? hmmmm.

CEIVA remote digital photo sharing display

First to recommend

Description

The fact that you can send photos remotely is quite amazing. My mum, for example, does not own a computer. I have difficulty sending her photos, since they're all digital and a pain to print, not to mention expensive.

Besides, what a great eco-friendly way to exchange photos without the cost and waste of paper!

Can I say I love the leopard skin option? Not for mum, but for me...

The Peace War

First to recommend

Description

I am a huge sci-fi flick enthusiast, but I never got into the books because they tend to be difficult to follow. Until I read this book. I now believe when I lose track of time, I've been trapped in a bobble! Read it... Then you'll get what I mean.

Great book by Vernor Vinge (and I heard it's not his best effort either!). Easy read (3 days on vacation). (via Grenade Fishing)

Loog Gutter Cleaning Robot

First to recommend

Description

This is one of the coolest new introductions this year from iRobot. It's a remote controlled gutter cleaner. Have you watched someone on the roof cleaning out the gutter? Scares the heck out of me every time. For $169.99, it's a cool gadget gift for the person who owns that house duty. Good thing it isn't me! (via Elfster Blog)

Wild Fern Printed Silk Men's Tie

First to recommend

Description

I am now on a fern kick again (my obsession comes and goes with fern). I love Thomas Pink ties. Their quality is fantastic. A little on the traditional side sometimes, but they are a great staple to a man's wardrobe.

Square Sun Shade

First to recommend

Description

I've always loved this thing, since it was first introduced, oh, maybe 5-6 years ago? It's a stretchy fabric that can be attached to 3 points to create a shade structure. I like it for its creative possibilities. You can pin it in many different ways to make beautiful sail structures that also work as shade structures. In multiples it's almost like art.

PETT Portable Environmental Toilet

First to recommend

Description

At first I thought it was a portapotti for pets, and I thought, huh? What in the world??? Then I realized it's a to-go portapotti for campers. This is a handy product, as well as sensitive to the environment. The next time I use this, it will probably be at Burning Man, where the portapottis are intolerable (the long lines). People will call me Bourgeois Burner, and you know? I'm okay with that.

Patagonia Men's Brakeman's Jacket

First to recommend

Description

Made of organic hemp, organic cotton, and spandex for stretch (important). Great jacket for all-weather wear, in the garden or out and about. This is the kind of jacket my Dad feels most comfortable in - not showy, casual and sporty but not activewear. What a great deal at $66 (reg $110).

InMotion

First to recommend

Description

An ipod docking station with video capability. The important part - this portable audio station charges your ipod while it's docked. (I don't understand docking stations that do not offer this.) $349 is not a bad price either. Model IMV712 (via GizMag.com)
