shakelight led flashlight

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

These kinetically powered flashlights use motion and magnet to create enough energy to power bright LED bulbs. Never need batteries or electricity (from your house that is, since it creates its own electricity). Very cool emergency tool. No cranking needed. Just some good shaking.

high-velocity garage fan + light

First to recommend

Description

You know how Mom is always complaining about Dad spending too much time putzing around in the garage? What does Dad do in there, anyway? Sometimes all day... It's one of those mysteries that is not meant to be solved.

Might as well make it comfortable for him. This is a great fan or what? Mounts on ceiling, circulates good air, and has that cool little flashlight attached to it as well. It gets hot in that garage sometimes!

6-foot walk-on-water ball

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

This thing rocks. It reminds me of the new Sphere trend that's happening. They're launching an adventure sport activity where you can go into a giant inflatable ball and roll down a large hillside. I think it is supposed to replace bungee jumping, though I doubt experiencing what it's like to be in a front load washer/dryer is as much fun as bungee jumping. Still, i'm interested.

This water one is not quite that extreme. You can walk in it to get from A to B. Pretty funny if you can have a race in these things.

portable hammock

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

This portable hammock breaks down small enough to be carried over the shoulder - about the size of a yoga bag, but heavier at 25 lbs. It's pretty decent for being portable, but not strong enough to hold two people. Holds 250 lbs. Can be put together very quickly. I've used it before, and it works fine. For at home, I prefer the large ones you hang on tree trunks. This one, you can take it on the road for the camping trip.

LED desk lamp

First to recommend

Description

I just ordered two, and I can't wait! This lamp makes a good role model for new green products. Why should we sacrifice style to be good? This lamp is attractive, good for the environment (no mercury and less toxic gas), maintenance free (no bulb change ever), extremely durable (LED can move around without damage), and amazingly affordable ($59.95).

Flight001 emergency radio

First to recommend

2 people recommended this item

Description

I live about a mile from the Hayward Fault, so emergency preparedness is a common topic around town. Under my bed is the emergency kit - crow bar, water, food... and a radio. This radio receives AM, FM and 11 international shortwave bands. The important part - it is self-powered via the hand crank mechanism.

Ego Waterproof Mp3 Stereo

Description

It's air tight and floats. Can hold ipod or mp3's (smaller than the ipod). Face the speakers upward and let the music play without worrying about water damage. What a fun toy to test on the next houseboat trip.

portable wireless audio system

First to recommend

Description

I suppose it's portable because it has built-in wheels - which is handy. This aluminum cased gadget is am amplifier that is ipod-ready. It can also be hooked up to instruments or the microphone (yeap, you got it, karaoke). 6 hours play time with the built-in rechargeable battery. I think it's great for yard work. You can pull this around so you don't have to blast your music from your house. I'm sure the neighbors will appreciate this more.

RoboMower RL850

6 people recommended this item

Description

Now this is a toy my Dad would enjoy, except for the raking. I wonder why they can't have it tow a large bag too? Maybe it's better to compose the grass... Well, robotic lawn mower. Where was this when I was a kid? That was my chore, believe it or not... My brothers? Yeah, right.
