aluminum + rubber tray
First to recommend
Description
When I got this tray, stainless steel was not a common household material. This tray from the U.K. is made of anodized aluminum, which at the time we thought "oooh, so modern" and "cool" (okay, it was 10 years ago). In the buying office, we thought it was beautiful, but we had to reject it because we felt it was too expensive (you know it's *really* expensive when it's too expensive for Williams-Sonoma). I was the lucky sample sale purchaser of this tray.
I had not seen this tray elsewhere in the U.S. until today... AT Moss for $450. Yowza. That is expensive. I guess I should pick it up from the kitchen floor in the corner and place it somewhere decent... where expensive things belong.

meyer lemon soap + lotion
First to recommend
Description
Leave it to Williams-Sonoma to create not just any lemon soap, but "meyer" lemon soap at that. A bit chi-chi on the details, but lovely scent to have around regardless. These are made with essential oils, so they're aromatherapeutic. Citrus is to energize.

bath mug

Description
I own only white mugs. It's one of my "weird about it" behavior. This does annoy my friends because they can't tell whose cup is whose. Blah. Whatever...

One of my favorite kitchen item is my aluminum clock. It hangs there without much notice, but it is very noticeable.

sharp commercial microwave oven

Description
I found the Sharp commercial microwave oven about twelve years ago, when they were the only maker of stainless steel microwave ovens. (Back then stainless steel was still a novelty, can you believe it?). I love the simple design. For some reason I'm attracted to things with way too much power.

Description
I love my all stainless dualit toaster. It's not the most efficient or functional toaster in the world, but I do think it's is the prettiest toaster in the world. Every once in a while I break my own form + function rule, and I'll justify it with "but it's soooo beautiful!"

Laguiole wine opener

Description
I have spent a lot of time in France and actually have visited the town in the center of France where these are made. I have a wine opener made with olive wood that is beautifully crafted and is a great combination of design and engineering. I bought it in Burgundy, and think fondly of France every time I open a bottle.

Sriracha Sauce
47 people recommended this item
Description
I am Vietnamese, and I will tell you, I can't live without a bottle of this in my fridge. I go through serious withdrawal when I am out and cannot find it at a nearby store. Luckily we have Chinatown in Oakland, where I can drive frantically to in order to find my sriracha hot sauce.
I use it mostly only for Pho, the vietnamese noodle soup. I also add it to dipping sauces for spring rolls or imperials rolls.
Oh, talking about it makes me hungry! (via BoogieStace)

All-Clad Saute Pan with Loop Handle

Description
I like this extra large saute pan. It deep enough to make some serious sauces. A good saute pan is key, because great heat distribution will help caramilized the natural sugars in your ingredients, and that's what makes for an amazing sauce. (via kleins99)

copper braising pan
First to recommend
Description
I worked on developing this pan while I was working as a merchant at Williams-Sonoma. I love the story behind it. This pan was hand-hammered by artisans in Italy. What makes it funny is they are part-time shephards. When there is downtime, our agent would bring wine as a bribe so get them to work on hand-hammering the pots. The belly shape is intentional and works for braising because it circulates the heat at the top more so than a wide-mouth pot.
