copper gratin pan
First to recommend
Description
I'm a fan of copper, but it is difficult to care for, so I do not use them for basic cooking (where I use all-clad stainless instead). However, I have copper pieces that are great for special dishes. For its cooking property because it is the best heat conductor and also distributes heat evenly. Gratin is a dish I do use copper for. Makes everything nice and brown and crispy when I ant it to be. I also enjoy serving my dishes directly from the pan, because they are so beautiful.

screwpull lm-300 wine opener

Description
Love my Screwpull. Can't do with another anymore. It's sooo easy to use. I do have one complaint though... It's big, so a bit clumpsy to store easily.

stainless steel rolling pin
First to recommend
Description
I always say if a burglar enters the house, I'd skip the Wustolfs and go for this stainless steel rolling pin instead. Nice and heavyweight, it can be more weapon than cooking tool.
It's also simply beautiful. However, I do have a better reason for owning this. If you throw this in the fridge, the stainless actually cools, making rolling dough much easier to do. If you bake, maintaining dough temperature is a key trick to producing great pasta and also pie crusts.

restaurant dinnerware
First to recommend
Description
I'm not into fancy china. I'm very happy with my plain white restaurant dinnerware from Williams Sonoma. I bought three sets of these 30-piece set, enough to throw a large dinner party and still have matching pieces. The white shows off the food well, and allows other decorative elements to stand out (flowers, candles, etc.).

vietnamese coffee filter

Description
It's actually a french drip press that was introduced to Vietnam by the French during the days of French colonization. It is still used by most Vietnamese today, in Vietnam and in the U.S. Maybe it's psychological, but one can't achieve that perfect caphe sua da (vietnamese iced coffee) without this handy little tool.

cuisinart 3-cup food processor
First to recommend
Description
I like the smaller food processor because it takes less counter space and is perfect for most of my chopping needs (herbs, onion, garlic, etc.) I have yet to need the extra large version.

Riedel Vinum Bordeaux - Set of 6 - A sampling of fine wine

Description
Riedel wine glasses. In my dream I would have 100 of these to use for every occasion. It's designed specifically for wine enthusiasts, but you do not need to be one to appreciate good stemware. This shape works best as the basic glass for all red wines. Eventually, we'll move to specific stemware... For now, these will do. (via Kristine)
