Description
Years before I was nearly engulfed in flames thanks to a vibrator I TRULY thought was a back massager (long story, for another time when we've all been drinking), I sat on my bed for hours and hours and played with this. Merlin.
Six games in one. Might not be flame retardant.

It's amazing how fun the games we had growing up still are.... If you give them a chance, they can hold their own against tv shows and video games. And it's a lot of fun for kids to know they are playing the same thing you played at their age.
This was a favorite of mine then and now.

The Original Hi Ho! Cherry-O Game

Description
I had one of these that my best friend Jennie and I played with for hours and hours.... Now my spawn have one too.
Twisted sidenote: When playing with intoxicated adults, the cherries are damn hard to hold with grown-up fingers. FYI.

String Games

Description
I've probably said this here before but just to be clear: I didn't have three ten-pound babies for nothing. My payment? The chance to passive aggressively encourage them to rewalk my own childhood footsteps. Kind of like a "life do-over." Only I hope they do it more gracefully.
The purpose? So that I can answer deep, provocative questions like, "How different would my life be if I hadn't sported 3-inch high vertical bangs in high school?" (Sidenote: I grew up in So. Cal in the 80's. So it was only partially my fault.)
This book made me think of one thing when I saw it: "I played those games. Now THEY will... err... I mean, can if they would like... play those games."
from the site:
Cat's Cradle, Crow's Foot, Jacob's Ladder - we remember well the happy hours spent playing string games handed down to us by our mothers and grandmothers.
Thankfully, Richard Darsie's careful, step-by-step instructions and photographs will help us teach our children. Three rainbow-hued cord loops that are much easier to work with than the yarn we used as kids are also included.
A special kind of heirloom for ages 4 and up.

Bike Bell

Description
There will be 30,000 people attending Burning Man this year. 25,000 of those people will be riding bikes with no traffic lights. 20,000 of those people will be doing so at night. More than 10,000 will be, let's say, not in the best state to be riding. A bell is very, very important. Cause the guy in front of you may start doing figure 8's because he's in lah-lah land. Not good.
In all seriousness, it is amazing that people do not get injured on bicycles at Burning Man. I was amazed that people can traffic themselves in the middle of the night with only the stars, their headlamps and headlights. I did, though, hear lots of bike bells and horns.. On the main strip, it made me think of the taxi horns in NY. Very funny, actually.
